Its not because the thread is bipolar but rather it is because of the nature of this economy and our airline at this time. We could have an economy that goes down and there are plenty of red flags all over the place and we would/could furlough but at the same time they're fighting to get stronger and larger and that means stuff like more 90s, increased need for pilots, JAL and so on.
In the words of BB, who I know some had some critiisms a few dozen pages back but I liked him and he went to bat and helped DAL keep a good friend and great pilot who got wrongly if not illegally screwed in the background check by a former employer, but I digress, in the words of BB "it is what it is." |
When does our new equipment freeze start? When we are awarded a new seat? (January), or when actually converted? (Aug). I got buyers remorse and want to rebid in May before I start training in June. Anybody know if that's legal?

You should see a quantifiable direction for our staffing in the next six months. I say six just to be safe, but all leading pointers are leading to new hires later this year and in to 2011 and beyond.

It is just based on my guess that if the government spends billions on restructuring JAL, they wouldn't cut it off at the knees and and leave it with no ability to compete world wide. Just my own opinion, nothing else.
So you just assume that the most xenophobic society in this solar system is just going to give their dependance on air travel to a foreign corporation in the supposed interest of salvaging one of their nations airlines, as opposed to allowing the other national airline to pick up that flying? That sounds a bit optimistic not to mention myopic...IMO. |

We have aprox. 320 pilots on furlough by-pass. around 100 on the DAL side and about 220 on the NWA side. The DAL by-pass guys probably are gone for good. The NWA guys have much greener pasture to return to. I know 3 that had no plans of returning to NWA, but are now planning to come back to Delta. I would bet that 150+ of the 220 from NWA come back. Opinions?

On a side note, C44 guys read the e-mail our reps sent out. Some good background that has not been discussed as of yet on the JAL deal.
