I would not state they are Ninjas. The committee may see this as something that needs to be check as it may have possible teeth. I do not know as I do not talk to them.

My solution is dump the fences, get the company to agree to pay protect those that would have held the position with a fence for a term of six years (fence plus the year it would have taken for them to get displaced on the joint bids) and get the 777-300's. This crap is going to take that assessment and burn it real quickly. Next we will see another million dollar assessment.

I think that you would have to prove that there was intent by the company to use a displacement to cause pilots of lesser seniority on a the joint list to be displaced. If I recall it was about as even as you can get with North going South and South going North.
As for what three says. Bloch is smart IMO, it is vague and will keep him in business. Are we going to do this and then when the 330's arrive in ATL on the next bid have the same argument from the North guys?
I am not on the DRC, but as it looks to me, this idea is in levels of gray.

Are the NWA committee members ninjas?[/QUOTE]

No. I believe they are 2 Narrow Body CA's and 1 744 FO.

I don't understand the sentence with "they" in it. Help me out.

I should have added a comma, A 765 was displaced to my seat, I then was displaced to another seat. Trickle down effect if you will. My question is; Is this a result of the single list or the result of an aircraft realignment that was bound to happen. (Note I do not care where I am going, I am just using my situation for arguments sake.) Add to it the company did not fill all of the ER vacancies posted which added to the "trickle down effect."

I need to pull up the award but are these stipulations for the fenced jets or all jets?

I'm all for dropping all the fences but I highly doubt the North will go for it since there are still a lot of out of seniority ninjas holding the 744 that in a system bid will never hold the 777.

My 2 cents.

330drvr-
Please excuse my lack of knowledge here.
Fill us DAL guys in. What is the origin of the term? Who are/were the "ninjas" at NWA?

Are we posting QTR and Yearly numbers tomorrow?

No, they aren't. My understanding is they are "blue" (like me, post NWA/Republic merger dudes).

But, like any good lawyer, they are duty bound to argue their clients argument.

I'm with A330 on this, a very small but smart and vocal number of guys who have been at this since they were in their 20s. In reality, they actually have always made a Delta style argument........DOH means nothng, here is what we had premerger and it's ours.

Check, I'm not saying I agree with them. But, read their argument closely and I think you'll see what I mean.

You are exactly the guy who is affected by this claim.
If the 765 who was displaced to your seat was willing to go to New York but was unable to hold it, then he (and you) lost your seat as a result of the single list. (actually, only so many as the slots that were filled by fNWA pilots)

By the way, for 330drvr ---
This claim works for NWA pilots as well. If any were displaced as a result of senior DAL pilots coming into their position. Quite a few MSP 320 guys I imagine.

acl- the stipulations (C&Rs) are for all jets. not just fenced.

DAL330drvr 01-20-2010 10:16 AM

The term "ninjas" was used for those former NW Orient (Red Book) pilots that became DC-10 and 747 Captains in their mid to late 30's as a result of the Roberts Award, they have been out of seniority wide body captains for a long time now.

With the separate Block/Reserve category system that NWA used, most of the Red guys held blocks as per the ratios while the Green Book guys were mostly holding reserve even though they were senior to the Red guys. Fast forward to the merger, the Block/Reserve separate categories are no longer and all of a sudden the Green guys are where they were supposed to be in the first place and the Red ninjas are now on Reserve.

I'm all for No Fences, these claims and arbitrations are going to split the group when in fact we need to come together and stay together as we face the challenges ahead including Contract 2012.

The "ninja" term has never been a complement as I understand it. Old NWA Orient hadn't hired for over a decade (12 years sticks in my mind somewhere) and when they did hire just prior to the Republic merger, they hired a bunch of guys in their late 20s. By vertue of the Roberts awards they shot up to widebody everything including Capt very young.

I have a friend who is older but hired during that time period. He called it "running in front of the green wave". You were never going to be senior on anything so you move up and made money. As soon as something went insufficient bidder, you were only going to drop on the equipment list and it was time to move on/up.
