I like the way you think, but many of the guys that I fly with like it the way it is. You could put standing swap qualifiers in but most guys fear change. It is doable as it is just a computer, but guys like you and I could then cherry pick that time, and the senior guys would have a harder time to nail down what they want. A few wrong swaps etc would cause a major uproar. The vacation system we have gives a junior guy a little shot at making life better so why can't we get a little out of improving our monthly schedule so the majority of the group is happier? Just throwing out ideas that I think would make the majority better off not just the senior guy. FWIW, I'll be very senior for alot of years down the road, and I would love to live under a system that allows live trades even if a junior guys "gets" a trip that I might have gotten if I was flying. When your not flying, you get a text if a trip pops up that meets your parameters, so it's only a problem for guys that are flying. |

If we merge with Alaska, then we can start looking down on people again! Eh?? eh??? I kid, I kid! |
Quick couple of questions:
1. How is picking up a "Out of Base" whiteslip different than an "In Base" whiteslip? Besides the obvious (In/out of base). I.E., how are these processed in the system? Is there some sort of logic that keeps "out of base" white slips from being awarded if there are sufficient reserve/line holding pilots already available in base? 2. What about picking up trips "out of base" via the ecrew swap board? Possible, or not possible? Just trying to mix up the schedule to a more commuter friendly line. Sometimes, that commuter friendly means going to a better airport to start/finish. For the ecrew swap board in particular, most pilots are commuters anyway, so what possible difference could it make where they're based when picking up a shift? Thanks. |
One more question....
What three times a day does PCS roll? 07, noon, and 22? |

The biggest difference in Out of Base White slips is that they are only processed for Same Day/NextDay. In other words, for a trip that is in Open Time that reports some time next week, In Base pilots get first crack at it and Out of Base pilots will only be considered on the day before/day of the trip.

Haiti Relief Flights?
I see the memo about the relief flights on the iCrew front page.
Anyone know what fleets are doing these flights, and what they entail? I'm thinking about saying yes to the MAC Charter question, but am not really sure what it means if I "volunteer" for MAC flying. Anyone have any experience with these?? |
I think the 757ER is doing the PAP flying. I was looking at the information yesterday in the crewroom.... bathroom. I wish the 88 was involved.
