I would do one, but I think only one has gone.

I'm thinking about saying yes to the MAC Charter question, but am not really sure what it means if I "volunteer" for MAC flying. Anyone have any experience with these??

It means if they have a MAC flight coming up, on your equipment, the schedulers will contact you and ask if you want it. As a 20 year MAC guy, I have a standing request in. I've only been contacted once, I think because I'm on the 73N (and they don't use those for MAC often), but it was a really sweet deal. I think the guys who fly international could get them much more often if they wanted.

The biggest difference in Out of Base White slips is that they are only processed for Same Day/NextDay. In other words, for a trip that is in Open Time that reports some time next week, In Base pilots get first crack at it and Out of Base pilots will only be considered on the day before/day of the trip.

And I agree with how they feel, but I would bet 95% of the pilots would like a system similar to what I stated. Right now 20% like the old outdated system we have and 80% deal with it. It would be nice to have a system where 80% liked it and 20% dealt with it. A few line improvement windows that honor seniority before the month starts then first come first serve after the month starts is nice. The CAL and XJT guys use that system and you won't find many that complain about losing seniority.
The vacation system we have gives a junior guy a little shot at making life better so why can't we get a little out of improving our monthly schedule so the majority of the group is happier? Just throwing out ideas that I think would make the majority better off not just the senior guy. FWIW, I'll be very senior for alot of years down the road, and I would love to live under a system that allows live trades even if a junior guys "gets" a trip that I might have gotten if I was flying. When your not flying, you get a text if a trip pops up that meets your parameters, so it's only a problem for guys that are flying. |

the cal xjt system was by FAR superior to anything DAL or NWA has/had. That system was awesome for all involved and the QOL advantage to that system was huge.
Well, what was it? :) |
