Carl Read my above post, does that add clarity to the position.
I agree we were not the reason, just the final straw. Carl |

Carl,
If US Air and American ever get to our Contract 2000, THEN we can talk about C2K+30. Until then such talk is a useless waste of chest beating that would be better served impressing female Orangutans. I have never talked about C2K. I have only talked about an industry leading contract - even if it is only 1% above Southwest. OK? Got it? Are you sure? I'm not talking about C2K. I will however agreee with whatever you say if you will just get rid of that creepy avatar. Carl |

You were not the final straw. Pilot pay costs are just too small a part of the equation.
Carl Huge, No, but a fairly fixed cost over the life of a contract. It was not what put us there. I agree with that, it was just the last big expense that the current leadership signed on to before the dam broke. Our biggest problem IMO is that we as pilots and type A ppl think we play a bigger role at time than we do. That is both good and bad. |

The kids these days have me confused. What the heck is a disco stick? Dearest Poop Magnet, A disco stick is where you dress like someone 2 years away from an OD and make very slightly covered sexual suggestions while being played on the radio that children are very likely to listen to. Darn whipper snappers. Adi-hoes, Clamp |

Trying to use Bar lingo. :D Like I said a few weeks ago. We appear to be going head to head with AMR. JAL will be decided one way or another in short order, the West Coast and Latin America are next. Many countries are slot controlled as they have been hinting at during some of the base visits. One way to get more slots is to buy an airline, or their slots. I can think of one privately held company that has slots that would be worth a good bit of money for their players to get out. Lots of things need to happen to get to that point, but AMR is a strong competitor and we will need to fight there too. Slots and access is just one element of it. They are necessary to wage the war. They provide access. |
Just to add a point for conversation regarding the economy and furlough stuff....wasn't there just an email stating that delta would invest a lot of money regarding the customers experience between now and I believe 2014 or something? They stated we would be adding first class sections to an additional 30+ CRJ 700's I think. Seems to me were going in the opposite direction of a furlough now. Why put the seats in if you'd just have to drag them all back out?
Something to think about. fly and yes johnso is correct. He's back on the bus due to increased NB flying. Praise the lord. I was right above him and was/am still FLYING EVERY FRIGGIN DAY. |

Southwest is a perfect comparison. Why you and others in management only want to talk about the dysfunctional airline du jour is beyond me.

Take that, some better DC stuff, 28k improvement, and other sundries and that sounds like an appropriate contract. How to negotiate it is a whole nother animal. |

Then, that changed. It may have been the realization that the freight train was coming and the impact would be less severe if you were running in the same direction the train was going. But, I've never seen any numbers that remotely suggest the merger was good for Delta long term and only benefits the Delta pilots who are young enough to see NWA mostly go away by the time they hit their prime earning years.

They need a FC in as many jets as possible. That includes DCI. The reason they opted to do this on the 700 was simple. There is no ROI on trading one in for a 900. This way they get FC seats on a jet that is on property and at a cost of four Tourist Class seats.
FWIW, the seat scope trigger is for 76 seat jets not 70's. The 700's are actually getting four seats pulled on each jet. Better for gas and jumpseaters. |
