Alitalia's 763 that had the hard landing in EWR, a 737 that looks like it was made of rubber as the tail bends towards the ground. A 763 that had cracks in it in JFK. I think there is another 763 but I can't remember the name of the airline but I remember it had a crack forward of the wing that ran from the top to nearly the bottom of the fuselage. There is an ERJ-145 with the tail on the ground and an MD-80 that lost its tail on landing.

But, I think this picture is the most humbling. Imagine if this had been the middle of the day and not overnight?

The burning aircraft is an MD-11.

Is that the FedEx Md11 in EWR? I was in the airport hotel that night and I HEARD it.. woke up the next morning and saw about it on the news.. opened my window shades, and looked out on the airport and the (aircraft.. thank goodness no person) carnage. I talked to our maintenance guys at the airport, and they told me that we usually have a couple of 767s parked right where a couple of big pieces came to rest, but for whatever reason that particular evening, they were not there. whoa. I was just glad to hear that all the FedEx bubbas got out OK.

Under the old Military Airlift Charter (MAC) flying, there was no rotation guarantee (unlike reuglar line flying). Mechanical cancellation? Tough. You lose all time. Good luck picking up more time.

That will change.

THERE SHOULD BE NO LOA'S WITHOUT A MEMBERSHIP VOTE!!!!!!!!! Our union needs a checks and balances system. The MEC is there to represent us, not be us. They have too much ability to look out for themselves at our expense.

Logbook?

So, I have a "friend" who hasn't updated his logbook in a few months. What's the easiest way to get icrew to produce a flight-time record beyond the 3-4 months archived in the schedule? I had a method that worked in the past, er, I mean my friend did, but I can't seem to make it work now.

Bluto, here is one idea - tell him to call the fine folks at flightline and get their expense report for 2009. Flightline - Expense Reports

I think the first year is free but then you pay $50ish. I can't remember but I already ordered mine. It takes at least a month or so to get it, its first come first serve so I don't mind telling you since I already ordered it. It'll come complete with tax stuff to turn in with his 09 taxes but it'll also have a complete leg by leg log of all of his flights last year.

I haven't updated since I was hired. I'm one of those folks. But I have every leg on paper next to my logbook from the taxes.

Of course I don't know but I'd think the company couple put something out from its records pretty fast but I've never asked.

King Arthur: I am your king.

Woman: Well I didn't vote for you.

King Arthur: You don't vote for kings.

Woman: Well how'd you become king then?

[Angelic music plays... ]

King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why I am your king.

Man (to Arthur): Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

+1 supereme executive power is not derived from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
