Break up a rotation to cover?
When can scheduling do this, and where is it written? I've been through 23.N and O and it's not in there. I had a GS in for a specific rotation that departed less than 12 hours out. It was subsequently broken up and the pieces were awarded via WS (for the part today) and LC reserve (for the rest of the rotation.)
I called to ask, and was told they will always try to break up the trip prior to awarding a GS. Is this proper application of the trip awarding process? They didn't have any reserves to cover this rotation (it was originally a 5-day which I happen to like :D), so it should have gone through the whole 23.N/O process as far as I can tell. Are they allowed to break trips up to cover them, if they have guys that are asking for the specific rotation, regardless of if it's a WS, YS, or GS? I always thought that was their last resort but can't find it spelled out anywhere. |
Some have estimated that we took about a 54% to 56% cut in compensation and benefits with pay cuts and work rule changes, and lost our already earned pensions. That was when the money bag was pretty much empty. Hopefully it will start filling up again soon. Although I will still maintain, every single item we ask for has an assigned value by both sides, Scope was expensive, but we would be dead in the water without it. Just my 3 cents.

Quick question:
I need a day off later in the month to take the wife to a surgery appointment. I am scheduled to be on call that day. I put in for an Authorized Personal Drop. Is this the best way to get the day off? What is the difference between an Authorized drop & just a regular Personal drop? I know I've read about it somewhere but I'm suffering from imformation overload (along with most of the other DAL-N guys). Also, the way I understand it is they will reduce my monthly Guarantee by 3.8 hrs (or 1/18th). Is this correct? Thanks! |

Authorized personal drops are pretty much last resort drops to getting days off. What I mean by that is that no matter the reserve coverage for the day (for the most part....there has to be like 25% of the required coverage I believe) you will get the days off. And I believe we get 4 of those every year. Personal drops are only awarded when we have enough coverage. Check out the reserve availability list, and the days that are color coded blue means we have enough coverage, and if you want that day off....its all yours. Hope this helps. |

Have you called your schedulers? If not, try to speak with a Supervisor. Should be no problem getting the day off. Yes, your monthly pay will be prorated.
Best of luck.... Thanks for the info! |

You may be able to move the day. If not, call the CPSC. Talk to Baker. He will do what he can without making you use you PD. |
