Just non-rev'd from PHL to ATL on an MD. Before pushback, the Capt introduced himself and the F/O using the boarding door's PA phone. He then gave all of us his background of flying F-14, then F-18's. He said it again just in case nobody heard it the first time. Then as he thanked us all for being here, he said: "neither me or my copilot have our laptops in the cockpit, so we'll just be landing in Atlanta, not over-flying it by 100 miles." There was a little nervous laughter, but mostly just puzzled looks.
Am I the only one that thinks that was a stupid thing to say? Carl |

You bid your vacation based on the category you will hold on 31 January 2010. Sounds like that will be your current category. With an MD you will keep whatever vacation you bid on the initial vacation bids. AE/VD's will have to rebid their vacations.
I believe you NewK!!!! I believe you!!!!!!:D Denny |
golden days and vacation questions
Hey gang, no rumors our inside info to add, just a couple questions for the South guys/gals.
Are golden days (reserve) treated like Xdays for greenslip flying, i.e. single pay on top of reserve guarantee, or do you get a premium? My wife is due in March. Any chance the company will pay out my vacation while I take fmla or personal leave? I know its a stretch... For all you South guys/gals coming "up north," glad to have you, welcome to Minneesnowta. |

As far as the vacation deal, I don't know for sure but if you took FMLA for the month of March and have a week of vacation in it, you'd still have vacation hours in your vacation bank at the end of the vacation year. I would THINK they would be payed out in the April 15 paycheck. To be sure I'd call the union tomorrow. Congratulations on the incoming!!:) Denny |
Kargo,
I should have added that the x days are tacked on when you get back from the GS'd trip. I think there is something like a 9 hour rest period after you get back from the GS'd trip and then your x days resume. Denny |

Sounds like one of these guys that still uses his callsign from his military days.
Some guys just can't let go of their glory days. 2 The Koolaid Khronicle The ATL CPO says another “goodbye” and welcomes the newest member of our team! Captain Charlie Boyajianhas served the Atlanta-based pilots for 2 ½ years. Charlie has done an incredible job in supporting the line pilot and is often the “brains of the operation”. In the office, his call sign is “Thurston” and we will miss his expert guidance in areas ranging from finance to military leave to operational strategy. Charlie is a 767ER Captain and will be returning to the line, flying the 767ER beginning January 1, 2010. Thank you, Charlie, for your service to the line pilot! (We’ll miss you, Thurston.) Captain Steve “Tater” Tate is our newest Chief Pilot in Atlanta. “Tater” brings an incredible wealth of experience to our office. |

Quick question for all you New York commuters--- I have a buddy who is delayed in Europe right now, and will be getting back too late to commute home. He's looking for a hotel in the LGA area. Any suggestions?

Am I the only one that thinks that was a stupid thing to say? Carl There are others who make a "we don't have our laptops out" joke and even one who added "we know the difference between a taxiway and a runway" joke but I think its safe to say there are 10,400 pilots in this airline currently flying the line who know how absolutely stupid these jokes are. |
Last price at PanAm , all appropriate taxes included ....$ 94.15...listed at $79.00 + taxes...Rides to/from LGA or JFK. I've heard some decent deals for Priceline addicts near JFK....but then again, Priceline fees add up too!
