Am I the only one that thinks that was a stupid thing to say?

Not much different than the guys that flash the military aircraft up on their power point presentation during training. Kept thinking I didn't see that as a category being offered.

I believe you NewK!!!! I believe you!!!!!!:D

Thanks Denny.

golden days and vacation questions

Hey gang, no rumors our inside info to add, just a couple questions for the South guys/gals.

Are golden days (reserve) treated like Xdays for greenslip flying, i.e. single pay on top of reserve guarantee, or do you get a premium?

My wife is due in March. Any chance the company will pay out my vacation while I take fmla or personal leave? I know its a stretch...

For all you South guys/gals coming "up north," glad to have you, welcome to Minneesnowta.

I think the phrase you're looking for is "douche bag."

Yes, golden X days are treated like regular X as far as GS'ing is concerned, single pay above the reserve guarantee no credit and you get your X days back although they are not golden any more.

As far as the vacation deal, I don't know for sure but if you took FMLA for the month of March and have a week of vacation in it, you'd still have vacation hours in your vacation bank at the end of the vacation year. I would THINK they would be payed out in the April 15 paycheck. To be sure I'd call the union tomorrow.

Congratulations on the incoming!!:)

Kargo,

I should have added that the x days are tacked on when you get back from the GS'd trip. I think there is something like a 9 hour rest period after you get back from the GS'd trip and then your x days resume.

I've had good luck with Priceline for JFK hotels. LGA should be similar. If you are a little adventurous try 3 star for $65 and see what happens. You won't know which hotel, but it will be nicer than Five Towns or Rockville Center for less money.

Carl... this person is famous. You are 100% correct. FOs who've experienced these PAs, which happen every leg from what I know, say it goes over very poorly and say they cringe when they hear the 1 passenger out of 142 who says "that was funny!" They say you can just feel the chest expand from the cockpit. But obviously FOs just have to live with it and then vent to each other after the trip. I've gotten 3 phone calls about this in recent months and I'm sending a copy of your post to them.

There are others who make a "we don't have our laptops out" joke and even one who added "we know the difference between a taxiway and a runway" joke but I think its safe to say there are 10,400 pilots in this airline currently flying the line who know how absolutely stupid these jokes are.

Last price at PanAm , all appropriate taxes included ....$ 94.15...listed at $79.00 + taxes...Rides to/from LGA or JFK. I've heard some decent deals for Priceline addicts near JFK....but then again, Priceline fees add up too!
