Hey Denny.

Yesterday someone in Anchorage checked the weather in Minneapolis and said, "Holy crap! It's cold there!!"

See what I mean? :)

It makes sense. The Jan and future July AE are going to flood the training department. It takes a few months to get people from interview to cockpit. I interviewed in December and didn't get to the line until June.

If they do hire late in the year, it is to have the newbies ready to go for the summer.

Thanks..... The 747 cockpit is a little on the loud side and depending upon when I go to training I may make the plunge on a tbone I just wanted to be sure it would work (I believe our -9's don't use a boom mike). Guess I will wait and see what they post for expected training dates.

Be sure that it is "approved", I had a LCP tell me he didn't purchase one because of that.

What about the average crash pad situation? Do you have to "crash" in a dump to be able to afford it?

The only commuter hotel I've stayed in is the Rockville Center Inn; it's fairly nice, an runs about $125/ night. You can check out as late as 4pm, which is key for international trips.

The Pan American is about $100 after taxes. No idea what it's like, but the shuttle service to LGA and JFK is a huge plus.

ditto.........

Just non-rev'd from PHL to ATL on an MD. Before pushback, the Capt introduced himself and the F/O using the boarding door's PA phone. He then gave all of us his background of flying F-14, then F-18's. He said it again just in case nobody heard it the first time. Then as he thanked us all for being here, he said: "neither me or my copilot have our laptops in the cockpit, so we'll just be landing in Atlanta, not over-flying it by 100 miles." There was a little nervous laughter, but mostly just puzzled looks.

Am I the only one that thinks that was a stupid thing to say?

Carl,

How does the song go, something like, "I've got all my wisdom teeth, yet my mouth says things aren't very wise." :)

Beyond stupid, including the fighter jet background part, because...who cares? And, it was his own airline that had the overflight event so why even bring that up either!! WOW. Where do some people come up with this stuff.
