ACL,

What's your best guess about the trips for the ER in SEA. 70% Asia and 30% domestic. How junior do you think it would go for f/o's? To hold a line 75-80%?

Thanks

One thing that can kind of get a feel for things is to go to Crew Resources and Scheduling > PBS Line Counts > May- Actual and April- Actual.

You can kind of see what the line vs res lines in all of the categories.

Default Answer to PBS question

They use a snapshot of your schedule taken just after the bids close at 8 am eastern time.
What ever is there then will be used to build your next months schedule.

Tip for junior guys who want to force time off early in the month you are bidding for.
Example Bidding for July, and assuming you will be unstacked and forced to fly on July 4th.
If the end of June is open to fly, you can pick up a carry over trip after the bids close on the 12th that would conflict with the July 4th trip that PBS will assign (or you could bid for on purpose). PBS doesn"t know about this trip but when your sked is loaded into I-crew the conflict will drop the July 4th trip WITHOUT pay protection since it is believed you did this to yourself on purpose.
Now you have July 4th off even if you got unstacked and can pick up later in the month to raise your pay back to normal.
Never tried this but the ALPA sked guys say this works.

P.S. Sorry it's too late to try this for this years July 4th!

Now back to lurking!

No idea.

I would look at the DTW, CVG and MSP rotations on the ER. Those 12-13 day rotations thought sea and pdx will more than likely be flown by sea crews. I am sure there will be some domestic, but that will be up to crew plannings discretion on a month to month basis.

That's not in a PBS help guide!

We just can't train our captians as well as you south guys can.

Just did a 4 day trip in the 320. The captain kept putting the section of the release with the route of flight and fuel numbers on his window clip. He had all the important numbers highlighted and notes were written on it. During my fms preflight, he left the cockpit so I reached over to grab it and ripped it into about 5 pieces. When he came back I handed it to him and said here's your release. The gate agents didn't have any tape, so I had them print a new one.

I have yet to have a captain do that. That's just being an *******. He's decided that since he's the captain, he's not going to change how he does things.

Does the company ever give us a contractual language improvement in exchange for ALPA's promise to "make every attempt" or to form an advisory group

I'm underwhelmed. I hope we aim a little higher in 2012.
And what was the quid? You are not going to get a bunch of hard long term contractual gains for a small item like this. The SOT is actually the best way to try to get changes for free, because you can find ways to benefit pilots without significant cost changes. Some items that have smaller costs will be obtained as a result of this. The items that are significant cost changes can be identified and then debated at the MEC.

If we are going to make significant improvements to our work rules, then the process needs to start now. This is a great way to get that started. Waiting until 2012 is silly. I am underwhelmed by your lack of strategic vision.

Don't know if this was the situation but the dispatchers will file a flight for constant mach in the pacific if a flight is running late and there is an opportunity to get it back in time to make the original connections or later ones.
