So I heard from 80.
(For those of you who don't know who 80ktsclamp is, or who thought tuning into the last 100 pages and (i.e. 60 days) of the Latest and Greatest about Delta would get you up to speed for hiring, you're really missing out on a true gem of a pilot. 80 was one of our best. He kept vampire hours, could fight the good fight, keep you in stitches and once, he won the admiration of New. But he's going through training now on the 737 after having flown the 757/767 and they gave him all A period sims. For a while there he posted after midnight, but I'm sure those 5am starts have taken their toll and we no longer have the 11pm-3am Clamp Show) Anyways, 80 says things are good even for A period sims. He feels relaxed and well rested. The instructors are happy. http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...id/temp-13.jpg He said he learns something new every day. http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...id/temp-12.jpg He said the instruments were different, but he's getting the hang of it. http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...id/temp-14.jpg Ah, those were some great pictures taken during my PV this morning! I finally stopped sniffing glue after that, bowed to my NewK monument by my bed, took a nap, and mowed 2 weeks of grass that had grown in my lawn... twice. Numerous words that would be censored from this website were uttered from my mouth, and lo... I struck my foe to the ground (the grass) and smelt his ruin (a nice even cut). Anyhoo... 2 more weeks of A-periods and I'll be back to my old self. 300 series starts Sunday. So there we were.... inverted, on fire, out of beer, and out of options.... For those wondering why the 500 foot "checks" call remains on most fleets. You aren't checking for stabilization, you are checking for NewK landing at your airport. You will give way. Out of benevolence, beatdowns, and smoke trails, the 737 fleet has been deemed exempt from the 500 foot call. Perhaps that may be because I am researching how to get "the DC-9 Captain" picture that has been posted so many times here made into a flight bag sticker. Perhaps... |

Delta jumps into shuttle war
To compete with American, United for LaGuardia passengers at O'Hare Comments May 14, 2010 It's the same type of shuttle product Delta has successfully operated for more than two decades between New York and two other markets -- Boston and Washington, D.C. Travelers might be lured to Delta via its first-class service on Embraer 175 aircraft, which includes plated meals. With the move to O'Hare, Delta will directly compete against American Airlines and United Airlines, both of which have fought hard over several decades for their piece of the prized O'Hare-LaGuardia business -- though neither UA nor AA has ever specifically branded its service as a shuttle product. All three carriers know what's at stake. "O'Hare-LaGuardia is a route rich with business travelers," said Greg Kaldahl, United's vice president of resource planning and the executive who decides how United will service the many markets in which it operates. With the addition of the Delta Shuttle flights, there will be upward of 45 daily weekday flights in each direction between the two airports. With all airlines desperate to generate more revenue and reverse years of deep losses, neither American nor United can afford to cede to Delta any of their high-margin business between O'Hare and New York, the nation's busiest air travel destination. "New York is a very high-yield market that affords airlines an opportunity to fill a lot of seats," said Chicago-based travel consultant Mark Walton, who expects to see some very aggressive pricing on the route. Delta spokesman Kent Landers said the Chicago shuttle launch is part of the carrier's effort to serve the large customer base it has established in New York. "Our customers have told us O'Hare is a key destination for many of them from New York," explained Landers. Delta is offering a few shuttle service perks to lure United and American customers. Delta will operate its shuttle out of Terminal 2 at O'Hare and will use an Embraer 175 aircraft with 64 seats (two on each side of the aisle) in economy and 12 in first class. First-class customers will get plated meals, and customers in both cabins will be treated to complimentary wine and Sam Adams beer. Bagels will be served in the morning in the economy cabin. Shuttle ticket holders also will have access to priority security lanes, and will find complimentary morning newspapers, coffee and tea at the two close-in gates from which the Delta Shuttle will operate. Tickets can be purchased or printed out at dedicated shuttle ticket kiosks. To answer the Delta onslaught, United plans just a few tweaks to its product -- at least at this point As of June 9, it's adding one more frequency with a new flight that will depart O'Hare at 8:30 a.m. weekdays and return from LaGuardia at 12:30 p.m. United will then offer as many 18 flights each weekday between the two airports. In late August, United also will replace commuter jet service it offered on three of its daily O'Hare-LaGuardia flights with larger, mainline aircraft. American spokeswoman Mary Frances Fagan said no major adjustments are anticipated right now in response to the Delta threat. |
Ok, lets go to DFW and play the same game.

We already played that game in DFW with RJ's. We lost. |
DAL, not saying it would be a positive transaction. They are just going after our routes now. It was more implying a tit for tat.

FTB,
That is a Shuttle America plane - CPZ still has the gray NW leather interior. And CPZ isn't doing the ORD-LGA stuff yet. Just ATL, JFK, DTW, CVG, and MSP out of ORD. Routes like that should not be DCI. |
