Not that I don't think we as a pilot group were screwed in BK (both North and South) because I do believe we were screwed. More importantly, I believe management will try to cry poor when our contract comes up, and do their best to continue to screw us.
However, I don't believe airline ticket prices have matched inflation either. Not that that is specifically our (Labor) problem - just pointing it out.

About the only thing at DAL that has matched or exceeded inflation is probably mangement compensation. :rolleyes: What a surprise!

No written lists but we had schedulers that had been there for a LONG time. It would be the equivalent of your wife's selective memory list. A better label would be "Didn't know the PWA or was willing to ignore it List"

We also had a memo issued banning gifts to schedulers as well as a FA scheduler fired for "favoritism." If you want details on that you will have to ask the AFA reps.

A few points on this topic:

1. I am not sure that "elected to work for someone else" is the best choice of words after an "involuntary" furlough. Now, if the individual was never furloughed, and just took MIL leave your statement would be much more accurate.

2. How do you think DAL's big international expansion would be going without the US military actively fighting against terrorism? Specifically, the US military is working hard to deny potential terrorists safe havens where they could safely learn their trade - you know, things like how to blow up airliners and such?

Lastly - If anyone is going into the Captains seat after 10 years its news to me. Not that I would mind. :D

I also wouldn't be suprised if management moves much more slowly to negotiate our next contract, especially if we've been posting profits.

Seriously, though... I've never been much of a computer geek. I just really like how much less hassle this computer is and how much better it works than what I've experience before with PC's.

Military Leave
 
C. Employee's period of military service cannot exceed five years [Appendix B].
1. Five year limit on military service is cumulative.
2. The five-year clock restarts when employee changes civilian employers.
3. Some types of service (e.g., periodic/special Reserve/NG training, service
in war or national emergency, service beyond five years in first term of
service) do not count toward the five year calculation.

The Asst Secretary of the Air Force declared a significant amount of military service exempt from the 5 year USERRA limitation. The initial memo came out 7 December 2001 and then further clarified 19 September 2005. In addition, Delta can honor Military Leave for as long wants. Here is an excerpt from the 2005 memo:


When an ARC member is ordered to active duty under section 12301(d) of title 10 on or after September 14, 2001, in direct or indirect support of missions and operations associated with the National Emergency by Reason of Certain Terrorist Attacks, declared by Presidential Proclamation 7463, dated September 14, 2001. Affected members are to have the following statement included in their orders: “The period of service under these orders is exempt from the five-year limit as provided in 38 U.S.C. 4312(c)(4)(B).” if circumstances prevent placing this authority on the activation orders, the authority shall be included in a separation document and retained in the service member’s personnel file.

I inquired with NWA central admin, and they confirmed said time will not count towards the 5 year limit. I would think DAL will follow suit as they seem quite supportive of the military. I agree though, those who abuse this (selectively dropping mil leave to maximize schedule/pay) should be held accountable.
