I was just awarded a Authorized Personal Drop for a trip in June. I am a little confused because it still shows on my schedule. Do I have any obligation to fly this trip. Thanks.

If it is still on your schedule tomorrow at noon, call schedules and ask why.

I was trying to read a few pages and see if I saw it, but when does that next AE come out? When it does will one be able to tell where the new hires will be going just from the vacancies? Thanks guys. tying to keep up with the news....without having to read 4000 pages :D

It will still show up on your schedule as an APD because you can't white slip or green slip on the days you selected for the APD. Even though you can use up to 4 days (useful for dropping reserve) if you need to drop a trip only select the day you actually need (or the day there is insufficient reserve coverage so you can't use a PD). Also, if you check Open Time you should see the trip there.

ATW Reports: China Eastern Airlines will sign a binding agreement with SkyTeam next month, according to alliance MD Marie-Joseph Male.

The carrier signed a letter of intent to join the alliance last month (ATWOnline, April 19 [2]). "We have formed a special team to help CEA meet SkyTeam's various requirements regarding IT systems, frequent-flyer program and marketing so that it will be in line with the standards of the other SkyTeam member carriers," Male said.

He predicted the Shanghai-based airline will gain formal membership in 12-16 months. Air China and Shanghai Airlines are Star Alliance members and ChinaSouthern is a member of SkyTeam. CZ is CEA's sponsor to join the alliance. With CEA in the process of merging with SAL, it is widely expected that SAL will withdraw from Star and join SkyTeam. Male said he hoped SAL will join the alliance.

US Air Transport Assn. said April passenger revenue rose 12.5% compared to April 2009 based on data provided by a sample of its member carriers, marking the fourth consecutive month of year-over-year improvement.

The rate of improvement slowed somewhat from March 2010, however, when passenger revenue rose 15.4% year-over-year.

April passenger numbers were up 0.5% compared to the year-ago month, while average yield grew 14%. Domestic yield climbed 11.5% to 15.06 cents, Atlantic yield rose 23.4% to 12.20 cents, Latin yield lifted 9.3% to 13.77 cents and Pacific yield gained 22.1% to 12.34 cents.

Cargo traffic (RTMs) grew 22% in March, the most recent month for which data are available, ATA said. This was driven by increased international trade, with international RTMs up 30% and domestic RTMs ahead 12%.

What is up at DTW? I've been through there 4 times in the last month and the ground service sucks. Even got the attitude today when we were buttoned up, ready to push, and no paper. The ramp girl scolded me about asking for the final numbers prior to push. I understand that it may be a DAL/NWA culture thing. I used to think JFK was the worst station in the network. I like the DTW layover but those folks are painfully plodding. It would hurt me to move so slow.

You can also do it through the VRU. No need to talk to anyone and I found it easy to do. I believe after you log in push "2, 2, 3" Dont quote me on the numbers but it was very quick and it automatically tells crew tracking/scheduling that you are deviating.

Well its not just you guys cause we wait for gates more there than anywhere else I can think of...well maybe not as bad as CLT, but the ppl are definately not in any hurry to do anything.
Well, actually the agent did insist on boarding the a/c last week for DTW-EWR when we had a 2 hour wheels up time. Acted like my trip to quizno's was going to cause a disaster. I think they just didn't want to deal with the pax honestly.

Sounds about right, Buzz. I've always thought it was the UAW mentality in DTW that was responsible. I had a mechanic once threaten me when I helped an offline mechanic at an outstation do a gray box check on an autopilot. He downed the plane when it was fixed and pulled off all the airspeed bugs from the instruments to see if I would take it and then he'd report it.
Found the bugs on the ground outside the airplane. A NASAP followed and a few months later they all lost their jobs, from strike, not the NASAP.
Not a culture thing from my view, as I've never worked with a better bunch at most of the other stations. Imagine all the DTW crap and the old terminal. It was like "Escape from New York".
