What is up at DTW? I've been through there 4 times in the last month and the ground service sucks. Even got the attitude today when we were buttoned up, ready to push, and no paper. The ramp girl scolded me about asking for the final numbers prior to push. I understand that it may be a DAL/NWA culture thing. I used to think JFK was the worst station in the network. I like the DTW layover but those folks are painfully plodding. It would hurt me to move so slow.

Buzz,

If you had to dodge a humongous tire, risking life and limb, every time you drove home from work, would you be in a hurry to get the job done and leave? :D

I apologize if this is in poor taste. But this j**kass seemed hell bent on our demise. Punish me if you must:

The vacancies don't tell the whole story. They tell most of it. The saying bid what you want, want what you bid is very very good advice.

During the last hiring cycle, newhires got some surprisingly good seats and some Capt seats went pretty junior too (although not to newhires).

Next AE out in Sept? Maybe earlier depending on bypass returnee, flow thru, hiring, etc. Good Luck.

When, if ever, are out of base white slips awarded?

acl65pilot 05-24-2010 04:50 AM

Depends on the need. I looked through a few categories this AM and I was one awarded in the ATL ER B.

When I was bidding them and they were there for the taking I'd typically get them around 2300 - 0100 the night before the trip started.

Good luck with calling to deviate. I just finished a trip that had a dead head from my home town back to base. I spent over 30 minutes on hold trying to inform them I was deviating before I gave up and just informed myself I deviated!

You are a patient man. I consider 30 seconds on hold providing notification of a deviation.

They are awarded whenever scheduling covers trips.
ie = it could be awarded immediately when a trip drops into open time for that day or it could be done during the normal PCS run.

Out of base white slips are only good for same day or next day trips.
