No arguement there. Due to agency shop, he still had to pay for that. As far as I am aware, he is not alone on the list for being a non-member. I view that as a personal choice - maybe an act of defiance, maybe a political stance, who knows. My belief is that he is a great guy and not some evil being from an alternate universe. He had always been helpful when he was in the fleet captain job - a real personable guy with no anti-pilot agenda. |

One more step toward starting the hiring process - I won't say his name because I don't know if it's public info, but people who can get on DeltaNet can see who it is - he is very experienced. It looks like he's definitely not some paper-pusher who in it for brownie points or something. |
Fair enough sinca. It just surprised me to ever read that part. The thought never crossed my mind. IMO it did not need to be said.
In the end who cares, he will be every perspective new hire's best friend until they get to class. |
I GS'd a 4 day this past week. 2 of the 4 days were on my days off. It worked well for me, but the scheduler said I'd get a full day paid back, and a partial day paid back. Is that normal? I thought our days off got restored regarless off when we checked in for the trip?
Thoughts? |
How does one go about checking a bag when jumpseating? I'm gonna need to get one checked and the jumpseat is my only option to get on the flight.
|
You can gate check it. If it is too big to get through the X-ray machines, I would check in at the kiosk and then check a bag on that record locator. I have done that before.

I always though the first day of reserve was considered to be part of the GS pay, and therefore part of the payback. Add the nine hrs of legal rest after an assignment and you get your full payback day and a Partial PB day.

Yes that is correct. The only GS portion of the trip are the days flying over your X days, and they do look at whether it is a full day or not, and payback is in accordance with that. I have no real idea how they credit partial days, but call skeds and ask.. They aren't always the evil empire... The good news is that if there is any credit in the trip.. trip credit... it is all paid on the last day of the trip, so if your X day was on the last day of the trip, and it was heavy credit, you get a little extra somethin somethin for the effort. Capice'?
Thanks tsquare. :) Didn't have my contract handy so I wasn't sure. I'm sure there is some formula to calculate the partial PB day. I just couldn't figure it out looking at it. I'm not mad, just trying to learn my new contract. The first 2 days of the trip were on my X days so I got those days straight pay/no credit, and they were the most pay heavy of the trip so it worked great. Then they credited the last 2 days to my reserve guarantee since they were on my regular reserve days. It was a great deal. I helped them out when they were in a pinch, and my payback days got me the weekend off. Now I get to spend Saturday with my daughter while my wife works :) |
