The bottom line is this. Management aka the Company hires pilots, we don't; nor does DALPA. He's a good and fair guy and will do running the hiring. The more important question is why spend the time and money to spool up the hiring dept for only 300 or so guys and half of those are flows/recalls. Methinks the 300 is just the appetizer! |
Hey Guys,
New to forums here. I tried to do a search but didnt come up with anything specific to answer my question. I am a furlough bypass coming back this next round of hiring. I was wondering if any Delta guys/gals could answer a couple questions. Thanks in advance if you do.... 1. Is there a minimum monthly number of hours you have to fly or if a person was able to give away their entire schedule of flying this would/would not be a problem with the company? 2. What are the various ways of giving away time as a line holder and on reserve? 3. Has anybody here had any success routinely taking their monthly schedule down to around 60 hours? Before anybody tells me I need to come back expecting to give all my time to Delta, my wife is battling cancer and I need to be home more on a regular basis right now. FMLA will not cover the amount of time on a routine basis I will need. Any insight on giving away time greatly appreciated! |

Since hiring will not start until late summer, you may be successful in dropping trips during the winter months. It will depend greatly on the category you are in. The wide-body drivers have better luck dropping trips than the more junior categories. You also have better luck just dropping rather than swapping. On top of that usually the CP will help you with family issues like this. Look forward to having you back. |

However, you can't drop trips to go non current. If you fly the -88 or 320 you probably only need to fly one trip every three months. Good luck to your family. |
Anyone know ... if scheduled for displacement training in mid July, but now reinstated to current equipment with a July due month, which airplane should a guy be preparing to take a check on? The current & future, future category OR the future, displacement category?
They've posted the training sates will not be out until Mid June ... too late for July bidding. Any way to avoid making a phone call? According to PBS Pre Awards, the displacement training is still on. |
Bar;
Call Crew planning and ask. They should be through most of the ppl like you by next week. Personally, I do not think you will go through 88 training, but I could be wrong. Best thing is to get it from the horse's mouth. |
Thanks. Try not to call anyone, ever.

Send them a e-mail. Go find the 73N planners e-mail and send them a e-mail. They will answer very quickly.

I assume you get paid if you put your training codes in prior to getting class canceled.
