Here is a specific cultural difference between NW and DL. Read my post again- fleet captains (not fleet manager like you are used to... they are VERY different positions) and CLCPs are cycled out routinely, not necessarily at their will. They continuously keep fresh people in the seat. The longest anyone stays is 2 years usually.

Carl Come on Carl, we're talking about management here. So we (labor) are suppose to retreat to some sort of divisive tribal mentality because middle management jobs are being synergized? We're suppose to get all bent out of shape over musical chairs on the fourth floor? It appears that you are looking for any reason to find division and make a mountain out of a mole hill over what premerger butt is sitting in what office chair on the fourth floor. Get over it already. |

Here's another cultural difference. At NWA, we asked people to leave when it was time to "cycle." At DAL, you're ignored and your professional life is made miserable until you "get the hint." I just find that to be weasly. And as you know, I have a problem with rodents!
Carl WEASLY, isn't a word. If you were referring to the small carnivore of the genus Mustela, of the family Mustelidae, having a long slender body and feeding chiefly on small rodents, you might have more appropriately then, referred to the person as "weasel-like" instead of "weasly". But, the thing that bothers me about all of this is......best practices. There will be no one in a position of influence to to make our arguments. I guess I'll give up on checklist construction, flight planning, weight and balance or ACARS etc and just get what we get. I'm not trying to be derisive, just feeling the beat down. Ferd |

The other insulting part is memos that state how much we are part of the team, but the actions speak of just the opposite. Another concern. But like I say, DAL management was the surviving management. They can do whatever they want. And they are.
Carl This trivial shuffling of management pilots is "insulting" to you? Really? You need to get out more. Considering the size and speed of this merger, the team is actually functioning pretty well. That 747 cockpit must be like some sort of 1980s red book echo chamber. You guys are frozen in time. The rest of the airline has moved on. |

(I did edit for the Hello and China Eastern that DAL bought) In August 2009, a total of 109 MD-90 aircraft (all variants) were in airline service, including:
(I surmise the 717's are going to come from the fleet of previously Midwest birds.) |
