Which equipment are you on?

Despite the denials from those who have not sat reserve in a while ... there is a troubling trend of late notifications going around. Three hours prior to departure works fine. Two hours prior seems to be the standard in use lately. IMHO if they place these max effort "do the best you can" calls they should also place a courtesy call to the other pilot so the rest of the crew knows that they are going to have to either do the reserve guy's pre departure tasks, or expect a delay.

To the credit of the Captains, 99% of them see a sweaty first officer arriving at push time out of breath and say "sit down, lets brief and read, it's all done."

First of all, you're an ass. Nobody who was furloughed from Delta, myself included, "elected" to do anything other then find a way for their families to eat for the five plus years we were "elected" by Delta not to be employed. Secondly, none of us can slide into any left seat. In fact, holding a right seat after 9 plus years of seniority can be a challenge. Finally, what Delta retirement do those of us who were furloughed come back to? Nothing! Those of you who remained employed gave that up for BK. None of us junior guys stuck out the bankruptcy generating revenue to keep the company alive...we were gone dude! The hiring started again after BK. Its guys like you who recreate history that cause problems for the rest of us. Do some research or stop posting.

Default Competition from DCI in Asia?

(repeating a web board rumor FWIW, sources NOT confirmed)

We all know Republic has broken free of scope restrictions and set a course for growth independent of their major codeshare partners. SkyWest's managers have been increasingly feeling the pressure to do the same.

ASA & SkyWest pilots are getting briefings from C.T. (former Delta Manager with close ties) that pilots who accept assignment to the Vietnam / Meekong will be in a good position to accept future assignments in this non scope restricted Asian start up.

The PPRUNE crowd is all up in arms figuring ASA / SkyWest will compete with them in the contract flying business, bringing regional wages to what was a good deal flying A320's, 767's and 777's around Asia.

I just get nervous when Delta drops their plans for using mainline in Asia and the next day former Delta managers are giving crew room briefs on what a sweet opportunity is about to present itself in the far east.

From the all things 787 blog ...
Well interestingly enough a comment was left by someone saying that supposedly that Delta has decided to switch from the 787-8 to the 787-9 and to increase the order to triple digits (100 or more airframes?). The announcement is supposedly to be made later this year once Boeing has reallocated the 787-8 slots that Northwest had bought along with it in the merger. Now this is a rumor so let's not take it at face value but if there is someone out there who knows something and who can confirm it, let me know!

It is interesting because a lot of people know that Delta has said that it doesn't really need the 787-8 and there has been rumors that they would take up more 777-200LR. Well now in the light of Boeing gaining some more range from the 787-9 one wonders if this rumor may have some truth to it? In increasing the 787 order (they have 18 on order plus 50 options) to about 100+, Delta could replace the entire 767 and A330 fleet (about 100 aircraft) and add capacity for future growth.
Just trying to add some fodder to enjoy during everyone's early morning coffee. As ACL's been saying for a while, the 787-9 is turning out to be the airplane to have.

I'm curious how many pilots would want to commute/live in Asia for sky west wages...

But not at JFK.... JFK had another big holiday melt down this weekend.1 st it was customs on Saturday when over half customs officers didn't show for work. At one point there where only two officers on duty. They stoped international gate arrivals for over one hour. Then came Monday and the big travel day. Half the delta ticket agents called in. 5 quit on the spot and walked away b/c they just got feed up. The ticket lines where out the door. People where yelling, screening, at the workers people were crying cause they had been waiting in line for over 2 hours just check a bag only to miss their flight. Then the wx moved just south of the airport. Adding to the mess.

Next weekend holiday on deck is July 4th... Atleast this is the year of the customer.
