Forewarned is forearmed. I got used to answering the phone, "Hi, I'm drunk and when did they move Crew Scheduling to Denver?"

"Depending on what you have to offer, I may or may not have had 3 beers."

We moved recently and had to change from AT&T phone service to Verizon. AT&T always showed DAL as the caller ID. Verizon can't break the code and shows it as "Out of Area." If you have a service that will allow it, key in a different ring tone for the scheduling numbers. Mine is an alarm, sort of like a submarine being torpedoed. If I'm on the hook, I obviously answer. If I'm not, the sub goes down.

Just tell them you have no child care. Scheduling is going to think we're a bunch of alcoholics since we're all always drunk when they call. Forget it, no sense in hiding the truth.

weird... I'm on Verizon and whenever the scheduler (actual person) calls me it's unavailable number, but when it's the junior assignment machine, the number comes up on caller ID for me.

They don't already? We've got some work to do if that's the case.

I'm in LA and just recently started up our service with Verizon. For some reason, I can get my ring tones to match the numbers but not the caller ID. What's also weird is that my iPhone can grab the numbers off of caller ID but not my home phones. I think that's by design on DAL's part but I'm not a conspiracy guy. I answer when I need/want to, and I don't if I'm not on short call. Then I check my schedule and call back if necessary.

Interesting. I grew up in SIN from 1970 to 1982 with a short break between '73-'76 and then it was illegal to bring it in, or even possess it. Of course, I made some real coin by smuggling it in every summer and selling it at school for a huge mark up. There were and are many laws there that would have an ACLU weenie's head doing a "Linda Blair," but for an enterprising young lad, if you knew how to operate properly, it was a pearl on a platter.

No doubt. Although I chatted with them last night and it sounded like THEY were drinking. Hope so.

The locals there aren't as ****y as most of us think. You'll still find trash on the sidewalk, people jaywalking, and everything you'd find in a civilized society. Walk along the quay, the Raffles landing site, then across to the boat quay, plenty of nice restaurants. Check out the various indoor food markets. Excellent food choices, cheap prices!
