FTB,
Could you do some of your photo shop magic and show me how to trade an X day? IE: I am on reserve 2 thru 11 with an X day on the 7th. I would like to move that X day to the 20th. Thanks. 80Kts: I will sleep much better no that you approve of my actions :) |

I'm sure it's a function of they heard what they wanted to hear, but this is what we got at NWA after 9/11. Pre 9/11 some flight attendants used to come up and say hi or even take a break and chat for a bit. After 9/11, inflight mandated that they stay out of the cockpit (unless needed for bathroom breaks) which I think most of them took as "don't bug them at all". Remember, the unfriendly and the pilot haters go back to the back galley anyway:D.
I agree with who ever said that the FAs came up when asked, which has been my experience. Plus when I come out to use the biffy and say hi, the blockers are always friendly and not the least bothered that we needed to come out. I haven't flown with a south FA crew, so I can't say one way or the other. But, maybe we are both looking for something to be wrong? Ferd In reality we are all just dogs sniffing each other out. I watch it and find it quite amusing. I have flown with multiple NWA FA and all of them have been great. No I mean that. I take the time to ask them about where they are based, and what is going on on their end of this deal. They for the most part are very cheerful. I had a crew that on the van that had just got done chewing the hotel manager a new one because their contract was not being complied with. They started to rag, the hotel, corporate lodging and the company. My simple response was, " Though it may feel great to chew the manager a new one, he takes it, then forgets it, and noting will be solved. All three of you need to fill out a hotel complaint form that is located on the Dalnet, and then only after DAL has proof and a series of events can they go to talk to the hotel." They cannot not just break contracts without us filling these suckers out. In the end they were quite happy they were told that. Not sure what it was new news but it was. Point being a lot of them are just trying to figure stuff out. |

I've got a White Slip question. If you pick up a rotation via a WS that takes you to 29:30 within 7 days, is that legal per the PWA? From what I'm reading in Section 23 P. 7. f., this would be a valid pickup because there's a 30 minute buffer. I just want to make sure I'm reading it correctly. Secondly, if I exceed the FAR 30 in a 7 because of delays due to weather, ATC, etc. and they remove the WS rotation, am I still pay protected?
I beleive that once it is on your sked you are pay protected. |

The following is the definition of "category freeze" from Section 2 of the contract:
35. “Category freeze” means a period of time a. that is determined under Section 22 G., b. that commences on the date of a pilot’s award of an AE or VD for which qualification training is required, and c. during which the pilot will (unless declared eligible by the Company) be ineligible to be awarded another AE with an earliest conversion date falling within the freeze period (other than to a new or reestablished category) for which qualification training is required. To me, it looks like you are not eligible to bid an AE or VD to a new position if your last AE requires qualification training and the earliest conversion date of any subsequent AE's falls within your freeze period. There is no mention of whether you have started qualification training or not, just if it is required. It looks like the only out is to get the company to let you be eligible. I have no idea how to do that. I don't know the answer to the second question but I would hazzard a guess you do not. Denny |

Thanks. 80Kts: I will sleep much better no that you approve of my actions :) Go to PCS, select leave request (for the appropriate month) and then select "Move reserve off days". Then select the link at the bottom for "Add/Update Leave request". On this screen you get to tell the computer when to stop processing your request. In the body of the form are priorities 1-4 down the left and to the right of each are a bunch of empty blocks. To move the hypothetical X day from the 7th to the 20th would be 7 7 20 20 in the blocks. Here's the problem though with this hypothetical - you can't move an X day to a spot by itself (even if it was a loner to begin with) you have to append it to another block. There's another problem with the new system. Seems we can create 9 day blocks in PBS (domestic) but we can't create new ones in PCS. You have to expand ones already there. Last note, if the reserve coverage isn't good enough to move the days, leave the request in, you never know when it'll be good enough! Good luck |

Looks like Denny wins the best answer contest again.:D I've seen guys bid for an AE after receiving a prior award. So one of three things must have occurred. Either the contract language has been changed at some point, or the company allowed them to re-bid, or it was a new catagory. Reading c. here, it looks like it is referring to the end of a freeze period for bidding an AE.
