Thats good to hear.

But maybe our D-0 performance is off because people are following the letter of the law with the beacon and therefore we're late. And its not because we were'nt ready. I mean the checklist done D-15, the cabin door, that was closed D-7, AWABS came at the same time, all the cargo doors closed at D-5, guy was sitting on the tug with wing walkers at D-4, flight attendants told you they were ready at D-4... but ramp said hold your push I'll call you right back and now you're D+6.

Just a thought from left field.

Btw 80 knots, I single engine taxied, and we held off starting the APU just to make YOU proud. And yes FCR was filed. While this has been my worst experience yet with what y'all call underwing, there are many other situations that I have been very underwhelmed with DLs ground handling.

Seen that too Nerd, and that blows.

ATL has been a heck of a lot better than most since I've been on the 88, not saying it's perfect, but they've been pretty good. CVG is near perfect.

But complain. Send messages. Its the only way things get fixed. I mean we're all Delta pilots now and my first impression of Delta pilots on the line was they sure do complain a lot! They don't go with the flow, which turns out to be a good thing... most of the time. I mean you don't have to use vinegar if you can use honey, but hey, it keeps the operation in check. :D

80 has become the new APU Sherrif. :D But seriously, run the APU when you think its needed. I think 80's beef, and mine, is APU's with the air hooked up- especially if the air is coming in cold and strong. Like a cat rancher. There you go "does the air feel like a cat rancher? Yes? Shut the APU down." :D

That's stupid. Do you're thing and when you get there you get there but make sure someone knows you're late because of the turn time. Again, complain.

Trip construction is a big part of the problem right now. On the DC9 we are getting 4 leg days with 35 - 45 minute turn times (and often an ac swap) in places like DTW, ATL, JFK, etc. Not very realistic, and as soon as something gets you behind it just snowballs all day.

I concur with that. Most of my trips lately have started out late because the airplane was late getting in. And then, like you said, it's impossible to catch up with the short turn times (and, even worse, aircraft swaps) scheduled.

They called me for an inverse assignment (I was on reserve but not on short call) a couple of days ago. I told them that, by the time I could get there, it would delay the flight at least 45 minutes... but they were desperate and said they had no one else. So I hustled over to MEM as fast as I could. (I live in Little Rock so it's about a 2 hour drive.) As I was driving down I-40, I got a call from a friend of mine who is a DC-9 F/O in MEM and also lives in Little Rock. He was on short call, was looking at open time, and was wondering why they hadn't called him for this trip. As it turned out, they finally called him about an hour after he first called me. The flight ended up being delayed almost 2 hours waiting on an F/O. He said the trip had been in open time for at least 2 hours before they finally called him to do it. Why they would have waited that long to call in a short call for this is beyond me. I know we have a lot of new folks in scheduling these days. I wonder if this is contributing to our delay problems.

What was it, 28 of 40 schedulers have been at work less than one year?

Things are heating up in the NYC 7ER category. They filled two pages of trips yesterday and I was on the list twice. Ever seen that before?
