I know that Scoop. My reference to stubborn Delta pride was aimed at management, since they are the decision makers.
All excellent points. I hope you're right Scoop, I really do. I'm cautioning everyone about their enthusiasm based on a resume. This individual has a recent record. I hope he is more effective in this role, than he was previously. I'm not bemoaning another south guy getting a management job. I am bemoaning our really talented and proven guys from fNWA being forced out. It's very difficult to believe that none of our guys were good enough to be kept on or promoted. If the roles were reversed, you couldn't help but notice. Carl Carl, While we obviously don't agree on everything (I wouldn't trust anyone who always agreed with me anyway) - it certainly is refreshing to have a discussion on an adult level sticking to relevant arguments vice personal attacks, which I see far to often on this forum, but not necessarily this thread. As I have said many times before - there is nothing wrong with disagreement on this board, in fact I generally think it adds to the discussion. I do however, agree wholeheartedly with you that it is results that matter - Hopefully DAL will start getting better results - heck I think the "Law of averages" is even on our side - we (DAL) can't always screw up - can we? :) Scoop |

I am in Boston on a layover. I just heard on the radio CNET's 5 review??? (Never heard it before)
However, it was the Top 5 reasons why you probably shouldn't by the new iPhone4. "Yeah, God might carry one, but you can skip the iPhone4" :) 1. No 4G. Despite it's name, it only used the slower 3G networks. So does Verzion. 2. No longer unlimited data. If you change carriers, you're going to pay. Assuming one is not already an iPhone user. Plus 98% of iPhone users use LESS then what the highest limited data plan offers. It's no big deal. 3. No Verizon, still. Even CNET says, AT&T sucks. Haven't had any problems. 4. Cancellation fines increased to $325. Ok. Point? 5. The new phone doesn't change the playing field or save the world. Apple over hyped this phone. Many of these upgrades are playing catchup with the competition. Like???? And if it's catching up with the competition, why is the competition less popular? Last time checked Apples stock is doing just fine. Most people who want a smartphone don't want it for the things Blackberry's or old style windows based systems can do. You don't have to like the iPhone, but they had to stop pre-orders at 600,000 on the 15th. I'd say plenty of people like them just fine. ;) |

Quick question. Once you get your manuals for new equipment, how do you keep them current until you convert? I have a stack of MD-88 stuff sitting in my house but don't go to training until December. Is there a way to sign up to get revisions?
Moral of the story: don't order your pubs until very close to your class date. Then pull several all-nighters doing the cd's.:( Or, order the aircraft pubs and Jepps separately; that should keep the updating to a minimum. |
Secondhand from JFK base meeting:
- Shipsets for the 330 in July, 7ER in Sep, remainder early 2011. Outstanding! - New weight/balance hybrid NWA/DL product in fall. Not required prior to push - JFK terminal announcement Jun 29 (2010 I think :) ) |

What are the chances we are Skyteam by Delta Air Lines by 2020? |

You know good and well the influence that any fNWA person had during the transition. That was not even a good effort ACL.
Carl I also know that they like your functionality and are working on making the functionality of the new system. We have what we have, and the decisions have been made. I like what you had, but my understanding is that there were really good reasons for the decisions they made. It was not a N v S issue. I know there was a lot of ton of influence on the decisions made from the F-NWA group that was involved. I do believe that going forward you will see many things reappear and we will be dealing with the "new to us" items. |

Nu: I would love the ability to have scheduling get us on test, e-mail et al. Should we demand a RIM based phone, 20 bucks a month for a text plan, what else should we ask for to give this benefit to the company. I know they would like it, so what are we willing to take to get it? :D Netjets has a blackberry that has a bunch of programs on it. They send your next days sked or a reroute to the phone and you ack it, your are fatigued, you ack it. I like that idea, but for 12000 plus pilots that phone is a huge expense. Would you be willing to buy a smart phone that would be required to have these programs on it? We need to find a way to make this work for us, and for them. Start discussing this! |
