Reddog,
I was thinking exactly the same thing. The Fed's inspectors are so "sharp", that they miss that an airline 'failed to inspect' an item for 18 years. How 'bout fining the FAA inspectors? Or do they just get a pass, as "they are here to help us." Where do they find some of these guys? Sheesh... Chuck If they allow increased foreign ownership, then I bet DAL moves to merge with AF/KLM. Can we say SkyTeam Air Lines anyone? |

Because the revenue potential in LGA far exceeds that of LUV and we know it.
It would be like trading Peyton Manning for Rex Grossman. RG is an OK QB, but Peyton is much much better. So... if you want Manning, you had better throw in a few running backs/linebackers/water buckets and a few draft picks for the next 20 years. Not to mention cash.. lots of cash. |

Gotta love the feds. This alleged maint problem was from 2005-2008, and their crack inspectors are just discovering this now:D

The way I understand it is Delta found the oversight and corrected it, then self disclosed the error made by former NWA.

Chuck. That is the way it is done. It is the same way they found the SWA issues with the window frame inspections. Self reporting does not alleviate the fine, it only shows good will. We have a responsibility per the FAA to self disclose with in a given amount of time after becoming aware of such an issue.

Where was the FAA then?

Fleet Data
Hey ACL, any thoughts on why the fleet data has not been updated since Dec 09. I have watched that page for years and they used to update in monthly or bi monthly at the longest. Not that I am a conspiracy theorist or anything:D

Chuck I'm betting this might not be the first thing we find on the N side or S side as with any airline if you get a second set of eyes on the books and in the shop they'll find something. I know of some really rich corporate departments that have inspections occasionally done outside of their own department to have a second set of eyes see the plane and look at the books. The corporate aircraft I was on had 1 maintenance shop doing the work and 2 other entities looking at the books. It requires some humble pie and fat wallet to allow it. Or in IAH, umble pie. |
