Uh, I don't think I want to get the popcorn for this but it seems like everything affects US. airlines:

Egypt allowed at least one Israeli and 11 American warships to pass through the Suez Canal as an Iranian flotilla approaches Gaza. Egypt closed the canal to protect the ships with thousands of soldiers, according to the British-based Arabic language newspaper Al Quds al-Arabi.

The fnwa fa's are scheduled with a completely different system. This is why we have to put their # in the ACARS if they're lead.

When you send the in-range with a fdal fa crew you'll receive their next flight info with departure times & gate info. You will NOT receive this info for a fnwa fa crew because they are scheduled with a different system. That's how it was explained to me. FWIW

When I get my meal on a plate instead of the tinfoil... and get asked ONE SINGLE TIME on a 8+ hour flight if there is anything we need... drinks... sandbox break... ANYTHING... I'll put in their numbers. Until then.. not my problem.

T, definitely a cultural disconnect there. Whole different mentality when it comes to taking care of the pilots. Hopefully, it will change over time.

I flew with my 1st Fnwa FAs this week on the 88... OMG... I highly doubt they will change before they retire or DIE. I DON'T KNOW WHICH WILL HAPPEN 1st.

I guess. I should say that they never agrued with us about coming out when we said we needed to, so at least it was civil. And maybe it is no big deal. I am just used to a cohesive crew, and in this case it stops at the cockpit door. OK I guess. One would think that knowing the dudes up front still have a pulse would be important when you are hurtling across the Atlantic in a metal tube... I dunno.. maybe it's just me.

Question for regarding APD days. I'm sure this has been hashed to death but I have never needed to do APD days until next month. I have a four day trip I need to get dropped and have put it on the Swap boards in addition to applying for an APD. As far as the APD goes, do you need to do an APD for all 4 days of the trip or just one and the whole trip will drop thereby allowing you to pick up other trips if you need to? I read Section 23, but can't find the answer in there.

I just made a mistake on this. If you do the APD for all four days then you can't pick up anything else on any of the four days. If you just need one day off and you MAY want to pick something else up on the other days then just put in for the day you want, it will drop the trip and you can still pick up on the other days if you want. Even though you can put in for a total of 4 days (if you had back to back trips or 4 days of reserve) I guess it would be possible to drop more than one trip. No matter how many days you use you only get it once. Also, if it looks like you may have a chance of a regular drop or swap then you may want to wait - if I'd have been a little more patient on mine I would still have my APD.

When there is an IROP in a hub they will send you a slow down message, of give you a destination gate hold. It is great to see this type of forward thinking.

Our passengers do not care if you take an extra 20 minutes enroute but sitting on the ground waiting for a gate makes then quite irritated.

You know, I've never understood why we don't get more "slowdown" messages if we're too early rather than sitting on the ground waiting for a gate. Why do we do all those reporting points (I know the FAA requires flight following) if we're not going to use it productively. I believe there is nothing worse than getting on the ground and waiting for a gate OR parked at the gate waiting for a gate agent. It is the last thing our pax remembers. They can understand ground delays, wx delays, maint. delays, waiting to load bags (especially theirs or their pet), etc. We really should fix this. Our customer service ratings would really go up.

Just flew with my 1st DS FAs on the short bus. Guess what? Service, attitude and age was about what I am used to:( Lets face it a large portion of our FAs (for that matter, AA, Ual, Lcc etc) do more to drive customers away than pleasing them. That goes for the surly agents and poor underwing service. I am not saying all but enough just don't care. Until this is fixed(which it won't) we will never be a world class airline. We cannot hold a candle the Asian and Middle East carriers. My guess is not even the Western European.
