I guess the more appropriate question is how soon would one find out otherwise? Right away? 1-2 weeks after? Is no news good news?

Sorry. Got a buddy who passed Day 1. I'm excited for him, and just wondering.

It depends on the process they have established this round. Last time there was a review and a final rendering. No idea what they will do this time. Generally a few weeks tops. (Best guess)

I interviewed on Oct 10, passed day one and went the shrink. About a week later I got the email that they were withdrawing my conditional offer of employment due to "not being compatible based on psychological profile" or some such rigmarole. They have a board that reviews the loony bin people and I got the call on Halloween that I had passed and that I was in!

Yikes! What a rollercoaster ride.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Hopefully my buddy just gets silence, and shows up for class.

They had quite a few in the looney bin last time.
I think most eventually got hired.

I've got two friends that got got the "not compatible based on psychological profile" e-mail also. Unfortunatley for them, the board review didn't let them in. So, you can fail the psych session. I have not heard of anyone not getting in due to the medical eval and would imagine if you have a first class medical they would have a hard time legally telling you that you cannot work here due to some health reason. Also, if you fail the psych, you cannot try again just like if you fail the panel portion of the interview.

What's up with the looney bin anyway? Is it DAL's last line of defense? Are they just trying to fine tune the group? Guess ya can't tell everything from a resume and job history?

I'd say 50/50 got the nod last time. As a fruitcake myself during the last hiring cycle, 4 out of 9 got through the 1st day, and I went in to see the shrink right after an AF A-10 driver, nicest guy in the whole world, but we both got the infamous "thanks but you're crazy" letter. I was subsequently brought back by the review board, he was left out, I truly felt bad for him.

The review board last round was comprised of 3 members: a exec from HR, a different shrink than the one interviewed you, and a pilot. From my sources, when the board convenes, first they try to weed out about half of the nuttiest candidates, and then try to decide if they can bring back the rest from the "fruit basket", so to speak.

About a year after i was on property, someone explained to me that DL provides a "box" of personality that the shrink is trying to see if each candidate can fit into the DL culture. Things such as teamwork, ability to follow orders, loyalty are being evaluated, cross-referenced by the MMPI questionaire that we filled out the 1st day. The shrink would use the MMPI results to create a baseline, and evaluate each candidate to see if it fits what DL wants.
