Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
The thing I noticed about the shrink portion was they lull you into a mindset that you are just talking to them about life. Before long you are delving into personal situations that are completely non related to Delta or aviation. They get alot of info out of you on how you handle conflict in your life not related to aviation.
I think they can get alot of valuable information on what type of person you are that they cannot get from a panel interview done by pilots and HR people. Anyone can say what a panel wants to hear, but it's kinda tough to BS your way through a conversation with a psych who will figure out very fast if your really the person you are telling them you are. If you are not an A-hole and go into the psych being completely honest with them about whatever comes up, and they will take you places you never thought you would go, you should have no problems with the psych.

I remember talking to the psych about how finances effect my marriage and how I communicate with my wife about money. They will go into stuff that they know you will not have a canned re-hearsed response to.

I don't know. If I do, I think I'll let ftb and 80 down. I'll never forget-- but, I did forget who said it (I think it was 80).....
"When will ATC learn? You don't tell a DC-9 to go to a fix. You tell the fix to go to the DC-9!"
Classic. That and ftb's Amish horse and buggy.

I'd say 50/50 got the nod last time. As a fruitcake myself during the last hiring cycle, 4 out of 9 got through the 1st day, and I went in to see the shrink right after an AF A-10 driver, nicest guy in the whole world, but we both got the infamous "thanks but you're crazy" letter. I was subsequently brought back by the review board, he was left out, I truly felt bad for him.
The review board last round was comprised of 3 members: a exec from HR, a different shrink than the one interviewed you, and a pilot. From my sources, when the board convenes, first they try to weed out about half of the nuttiest candidates, and then try to decide if they can bring back the rest from the "fruit basket", so to speak.
About a year after i was on property, someone explained to me that DL provides a "box" of personality that the shrink is trying to see if each candidate can fit into the DL culture. Things such as teamwork, ability to follow orders, loyalty are being evaluated, cross-referenced by the MMPI questionaire that we filled out the 1st day. The shrink would use the MMPI results to create a baseline, and evaluate each candidate to see if it fits what DL wants.

Be normal, but don't get TOO relaxed.....
The mindset I took in was. I am who I am and the last place I want to be is DAL if I do not fit in to their parameters. Do not try to game the system. Those who did are not working here.

ACL, That is truly excellent advice.
The shrink doesn't always get it right.
If your friend gets hired but doesn't fit in so well with the family, he can join me and Uncle Frank down in the cellar.
Frank always has a bottle of single malt scotch and a carton of cigarettes down there.
We tell dirty jokes and bad-mouth SEC football teams.
Plus, Frank has a collection of antique porn magazines you won't believe.
Playboy and Penthouse from the '70s.
Girls were rounder in those days.
(I sat in the rocker)
