I was wondering the same thing! If i remember correctly they find out the aircraft on day on or two. The short bus seems veryv very short bodies so i would think there would be seats available. I thought there had to be an AE before newhires get their choice of equipment.

Just a thought...
Dude are you serious? I have the reserves to fall back on and I see great value in these flow through agreements... although I do see greater value in parking RJ's... that ain't happening. I'm with superdad... we should extract whatever value we can out of this.

There were vacancies on the last AE. They can use that one.

The recall guys can get their a/c before class.

Time to start some AE rumors. I've got a bud who swears the DC-9 iscoming to the ATL. Now, of course he lives in Atlanta, but....

This a dynamic situation and changes for everyone. I am interested to see how it works for some and how it does not work for others. I agree with Super Dad and the value that can be extracted from this. We will see where the chips fall.

I find it interesting on that on Delta.com Stats and Facts page in the Media Press Kit (updated as of August 2010), you can find the following.

**As of 7/1/2010. Regional fleet includes aircraft operated by wholly-owned Delta Connection carriers Comair, Compass and Mesaba.

I think the flow was a good idea in the past - because Delta had some control over who was hired at Compass (and now Mesaba). I think that with the Compass and Mesaba sold, the flows should be terminated. I appreciate the furlough protection, but not when the companies I'm flowing too aren't owned by Delta.

Do we really want to flow back to Compass (now owned by Trans States?). It's not against the guys and gals flying there - that's not it - it's the owners. Ask Trans States guys what they think of working there.

Also, do we essentially want Trans States (or Pinnacle for that matter) deciding who gets hired at Delta Air Lines (which they would be doing with a flow up)?

I'd like to see the flow continued until the folks flow affected get to flow up. There is a finite number of them. Its also the right thing to do.

The flow down kept guys off the street - There is value in that. This better cost the company something if it goes away.

Flowing down to a rotten company is better than flowing down to Burger King. Let the individual furloughee decide if he wants the job when the time comes.

just my opinion

I for one am in favor of the flow throughs. I watched this recession unfold from less than 50 seats from the bottom of the list, and I think the flow is probably one of the things that kept me employed.

I probably would not have flowed, had a furlough come to pass. My wife would have made more going back to work than I would as a compass FO. But I do believe the THREAT of the cost of me flowing back was a factor in me keeping my job.

I think the upflow should be honored for those who are currently on (Compass) property. Its the right thing to do.

I also think if the flow is terminated, we need to stick to our guns on the 85 jet cap. You agreed to it, you honor it. Personally, I think management will view loosing those seats as higher cost than keeping the flowdown.

Remind me to take any bid I have in for ATL in the next AE out. NYC might be less aggravating.
