And now for another episode of "Teach me my Contract."

Legend has it that if you have mil leave one day, you can't be scheduled for a short call that lasts through noon of the day prior. I haven't been able to find the verbiage in the document, however. Do any contract experts happen to know?

I just found it. Page three of LOA 22 (not 20 as discussed earlier). Hope this helps!

Amend Section 23 S. 9. to add f. and g. (new):
9. A short call pilot:
a. will remain
.
.
f. will be released from on-call duty not later than 1200 base time on his last oncall
day prior to a "hard" non-fly day (e.g., golden day, MLOA, ALPA drop).

Off the top of my head it is in LOA 22. It also quit pro rating days off for reserve pilots in check ride months.

It's amazing how agreeable Crew Scheduling can be when you read the contract to them.

3. Who maintains our A/C units - The Marx brothers? Why is it that they so often do not work? Its not like A/C being about 100 years old could still be considered cutting edge technology. It seems far too many of our gates lack working power and air. I wonder how often the A/C does not work on the 4th floor?

Scoop
I agree completely Scoop. In fact, I went through DTW twice this week. Both times, they turned on the air but never thought to spool out the hose and plug it in. Had to walk down both times and ask them to do it. One time they did it, the other time they blew me off. Doesn't make a lot of sense for us to push the single engine taxi thing and cross-bleed starts when at other times the APU has to run for an hour because its 90 degrees in Detroit and the ground guys don't bother to hook up the air. Its ridiculous.
