When they have converted, and completed T.O.E., the SLC 7ER pilots will be able to fly transoceanic international segments. The way it's gone lately, every base has flown Europe, Asia, S.A. trips at some point. While every trip from SLC won't require an extra F.O., some, like Paris will. Whether or not the company decides to staff in SLC for this or just fly in an out of base F.O. will depend on whether they've increased the number of FO's to cover.

So you might see a small increase in First Officer positions, but overall I think the category will remain the same size. SLC is getting more senior every day. I think the SLC ER will be the most senior 7ER category in the system, from top to bottom of the list.

It'll be more senior. There are alot of SLC guys commuting to LAX to fly the ER that will most likely come on back. It will also be totally rebid as a new category letting anyone, even guys with seatlocks, bid the category. When they did that to the 90 category we had over 100 senior fNWA guys come into SLC and I know of a handfull that wanted into SLC but didn't want to fly a narrowbody so they didn't bid the 320. I would assume there are a bunch of fNWA guys that will now bid into SLC since it will be an ER category and open to all. Hopefully there will be a slight staffing increase along with some vacancies in LAX and SEA to help us junior SLC types out.

SEA might end up more senior when that category gets all settled after a few bids, in either case all the west coast ER categories will end up senior until they get alot bigger than they currently are. I was told the category will stay "about the same size". They are planning on them doing the Paris and Hawaii flying along with some ER flying out of other bases and possibly some new SA routes out of SLC, however they will be doing less domestic stuff ton the 757, those routes will go to the 800, which is losing some of the routes it was doing to the 320.

Since we're having confessions of our attractions to TV news hosts, I'll admit I find myself inexplicably attracted to Christiana Amanpour.

Yeah, I know, she's not your prototypical FOXNews, blonde hottie. In fact, she's with CNN, not FOX. But you just know she has armpit hair that she braids - and I find that very enticing.

Yet, she never answers my calls. She does not respond to my many letters. I sit outside her New York apartment and throw pebbles at her bedroom window at 2am ... nothing! I've gone through her trash to collect a momento or two. I've followed her around the city during the day. How a lifesize photo of her in my bedroom with a candle burning continously. How much deeper can my love for her be? And what do I get for all my efforts? A restraining order! Pfft! Women! They show their love in the strangest ways.

I have half a mind to dump Christy (that's what I call her) for Candy Crowley, another CNN hottie.

out of curiosity, if a plane has been parked at VCV and is returning to service how do they get the crew there? IIRC VCV doesn't have commercial service?

Thanks

Thanks

I ferried quite a few 320s from VCV to MSP after they got the spiffy new $100 paint jobs. We DH out to LAX, take a van (couple hour ride...no pay)...to VCV and fly them back to Delta land

I think they DH them on one that's going in to VCV, or fly them to another airport and DH them via ground transportation.
