I forgot what movie it was, but remember the following coffee related scene. The protagonist was ordering coffee and the barista asked how he liked his coffee, to which he replied: "I like my coffee like my ex-wives - cold and bitter."

"Excuse me, I happened to by passing and thought you might want some coffee?"
"Oh thats very nice of you, thank you."
...long awkward possible line forgetting pause...
"Oh won't you sit down?"
"Thank you"
"Cream?"
"No thank you, I take it black, like my men."

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Japan Airlines Corp. on Tuesday submitted a bankruptcy-emergence plan to a Tokyo court, according to The Wall Street Journal. The carrier plans to refinance its current debt of about 300 billion yen by the end of March, cut its workforce by about 16,000 to around 32,600 and scrap 49 unprofitable routes, the newspaper said. Elsewhere, Reuters reported JAL will retire 103 aircraft, including all Boeing /quotes/comstock/13*!ba/quotes/nls/ba (BA 61.93, -0.17, -0.27%) 747-400s, Airbus 300-600s, MD-81s and MD-90s. The current fleet is 258. JAL's profit is expected to improve to 117.5 billion yen in the fiscal year through March, 2013, with revenue down 15% to 1.273 trillion yen, the Journal said. JAL last year was the center of a tug-of-war between AMR Corp.'s /quotes/comstock/13*!amr/quotes/nls/amr (AMR 6.17, +0.13, +2.15%) American Airlines and Delta Airlines /quotes/comstock/13*!dal/quotes/nls/dal (DAL 10.37, -0.09, -0.86%) , both of which sought its partnership to obtain a bigger foothold in Asia.

We'll take all of them. 747-400s, great for movement. Airbus 300-600s, the first tailess airliner, I'd love to fly it- possibly a cargo hauler?
MD90s, we know we want them. MD81s? They've got 9 of them. Its the same size as the 88 but its not an 82, its an 81 so I think its limited in MTOW and probably range. Would we take them as a DC9 replacement or use them for the shuttle or something? They've got to be dirt cheap.
FtB;
I beleive that DAL owns the MD-90's and is leasing them back to JAL. So it is logical to assume that when JAL dumps them they get put back in DAL's hands.

From airliners.net, don't flame me, its like in Men In Black where they read the tabloids for info, same thing:
The DOT today has commenced slot proceeding to reallocate former 7 Midwest Airlines DCA slots.
Initially DOT is soliciting applications for two Vision-100 “within perimeter” slot pairs currently used by Frontier on DCA-MCI services.
Selection criteria for the award of slots will be in a manner that promotes air transportation.
1) New entrant carrier and limited incumbent(holds less then 20 slots) air carrier
2) Community without existing nonstop service to DCA
3) Small communities
4) Will provide competitive nonstop service on a monopoly route
5) Will produce competitive benefits including low fares.
Additionally there are 5 other ex Midwest slot pairs where the department will conduct a separate proceeding for.
Submittals are due September 30th.
OST-2000-7182
JetBlue has already indicated to the department that it will solicit for all 7 of these slots.
