Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
And BTW, I actually like the -88, I flew F/O on it for five years (back in the old days, when Captains didn't do walk arounds and we had to climb ladders almost every leg!). But it is stinkin' hot when the APU is off, almost regardless of time of year, because it has no recirc fans. And if you have weak external conditioned air (or lots of kinks) the pax are MISERABLE.
Has anybody seen the new advertising that we're coming out with? I have to admit, I'm pretty impressed. Especially, one of the TV commercials. It's nice to actually see an airline doing advertising using its airplanes and employees. Now, if we could just back up those claims in the ads and take care of the customer!
If you are on the 9, You run the packs, ground air and crack the window if your hot (May-Sept) and it's still in to 90s. But the cold front came through last night and the forecast high in MSP today is 65F. Nice......... Good weather for Amish Flying.

It turns out there is a training video on DeltaNet concerning APU use and cooling in the summer.
It features a CP/ACS meeting. The protagonists are:
1) Captain Dandy, a MD-88 Captain that didn't find external air connected upon arriving at the aircraft, and refused to turn on the APU until he could ascertain the whereabouts of aforementioned conditioned air.
2) A CP, who leaves early for a "meeting", leaving the others to answer Danny's questions.
3) Archie, the Assistant Chief.
4) Danny, a representative from ACS who explains, in greater detail, the whereabouts of the conditioned air for the particular flight.
5) There is another Flight Ops guy in there, but he doesn't get to speak.
Very instructive: YouTube - RocknRolla funny scene 1 - slap

Thanks for the advice, can't believe I never thought of that.
Like I said, open the window. Thats very annoying on a hot day because so much heat comes in. And on your overnight, run over to CVS or something and get a thermometer. Hand it to the FA's.
We're too big not to have them but I'll say again all of the ones I flew with this summer said fire it up when it got hot.
