Question for you guys....

Can anyone answer this????

Is there any way to tell what size a category will be after the bid is run? I'm looking at the Resources page at the 22.D.3 report for April 2011. Is that representative of how many pilots will be in each category following the bid?

The reason I ask is my category (DTW320B) is showing 255 pilots on the April 2011 22.D.3 report. October 2010 Category list shows 254 pilots, and the projected category list (based off of the January 2010 bid) for December 2010 shows 261 pilots, but the projected category list (based off the May bid) for December 2010 only shows 206 pilots. I don't get it. Why would the category drop by roughly 20% in December and then be back up to "normal" size in April?

Where I'm going with this is, are newhires going to fill the gap between 206 on the December 2010 projection and 255 on the April 2011 requirement? What total number do they use if I put in a percentage bid?

For example if I have DTW320B at 80%, I would get it if I was #204 or better, based on a total category size of 255. But if the category is only 206 pilots total, then #204 is obviously almost at the bottom.

Any help?:confused:

fly2002- projected catagory list shrinks to around 200 between now and dec but jumps back up to 255ish by april 2011. Does that mean 50 newhires in DTW 320 FO?

I'll never forget the first time I fired up a T-28B and the airplane disappeared in oil smoke for about 30 seconds. I taxiied out thinking: "How frickin cool is this"!!

Fly;
you look at the staffing that the 22D 2 and 3 post. One is min staffing and one is planned staffing. The planned staffing shows what the company expected to staff each seat after the current bid. It is also the number that the percentages of each seat is run off of.

fly-
When trying to figure out how big a category is going to be in the future it is probably best to look at the 22D reports especially if its a category where a lot of new hires are heading. The projected category list is constructed using only the names of people that are actually on the seniority list. No "John Does". That's why it can appear smaller than it will really end up. It can be misleading for the junior categories at a time when there is hiring going on.
For DTW744A the proj category list is pretty complete and accurate. For MSPM88B it obviously might not be. There's gonna be some John or Jane Does coming in on the bottom.

If you put in a percentage bid, the computer looks at your projected position in the category at the end of the conversion window for that bid. Whether and how exactly they program it to account for incoming new hires I do not know.

Hope that helps.
