That's their website. It should give you a good idea of what they are all about.

I looked at the site, but all that's there are documents to a bunch of motions and briefs they've filed against ALPA. There's no mission statement or a description of what they are (at least not that I could find). I don't have time to read through all the documents that are posted there so that's why I'm asking the question here.

All I'm looking for is a brief synopsis of why they got started and what they are/were trying to accomplish.

Oh boy, I don't think you are going to find many who can give you an unbiased, unemotional, non-vitriolic filled discourse on that!

Hey to those in the know, oil prices are low because of low demand but low demand has caused refineries to cut back on production to maintain a profit and therefore gas prices have climbed to nearly $2/gal and are expected to peak at around $2.50 next month.

Okay, I'm making an uneducated guess here but will jet-a prices will increase in the same way? I don't know, so for those who do know, whats going on with jet-a and Delta? We've got hedges in place this year, can we buy now for later or are we stuck with the hedges so long that by the time we can hedge again the prices will be back up?

How does that work?

Avg Jet Fuel Equivalent*
Percent
hedged Cap Floor Fuel Price/Gal Delta Air Lines*
(at today’s fwd curve)
Q1 2009 80% $2.81 $2.43 $2.34
Q2 2009 85% $2.45 $2.09 $2.17
Q3 2009 55% $2.19 $1.22 $2.10
Q4 2009 32% $2.24 $1.05 $2.00

didn't the RJDC say that they should get larger airplanes and that ALPA or the majors where holding them back. Basically saying that ALPA wasn't representing regionals.

Actually you can multiply that by nine or so. Plan is for a few to go to the desert until the economy improves. They may be on a one for one replacement so in essence no mainline growth.
When these come onboard we will have to qual all 88 pilots on the 90.

There is a ton more that that. Do not underestimate their leader. This has become his life's work. LOA2006-10 came to the JPWA in its entirety. What RJDC is looking for is to keep OH and EV out of the intent of that letter. It may have been originally written for only CPZ and Mesaba, but when it came over to the JPWA without changes, it included in essence all DCI carrier. Now this is a gain, and our company signed on to it. We beer not as a union negotiate this away for fear of another lawsuit against national. Let your reps know about this. There is still time to tell our leadership that we want this LOA and its new scope of coverage unchanged. In these time every seat that we can get can be a seat for those that may be furloughed. It is real job protection that needs to be saved, no matter what.
