"Did anyone else get a statement from ALPA about owing dues? Apparently they think I owe them $231.00 even though I've been on dues check off all year. Not sure how that can be. Of course, my ALPA membership services representative isn't answering her phone...... "

One of the ALPA secretaries is getting some new dubs on her Escalade for Christmas. You were selected to help pay for them.

Hey guys,

On a completely different note...my wife is getting ready to buy me a Slingbox for Christmas. Any advice, suggestions, reviews? I've been spending so many weekends away from home it would be nice to have some good TV to watch.

Thanks in advance,
Buzz

I got one for $436 that was "owed back dues" from 2009!!!! You got off easy. The sad thing is, I was looking back thru my records from last year about this time, and noticed I had gotten one for $185 that was owed from the previous year (2008)! Frustrating!!! I have been on Dues check Off as well since 2007

Can anybody help me with some Sec 23 Recovery flying questions?

I was starting a 5 day on Dec 3, & when I went to check my schedule I pulled up the rotation & it looks like they're taking the trip for OE. It says in the remarks section that the LCA will be giving OE to new hire XXXXXX.

So what constitutes as notification of a schedule change?

Also, I see three 4 days & two 3 days in open time so I assume I'll be getting one of those. Should I be proactive & preference a trip?

If my original rotation was a 5 day, & I'm assigned a 4 day do I have to be available for recovery flying on the last day?

Can I pick a 3 day to minimize my work?

Finally holding a line, & now my nice trip will be replaced by some open time junk nobody wants.

Wow. So recovery flying when pulled off for OE is a horrible deal. Who the heck thought of this garbage?

I involuntarily lose my trip, & now I'm back to being a reserve pilot who can be assigned flying that finishes LATER then my originally scheduled rotation. Horrible.

Do I at least get a paid hotel room?

It's actually an awesome deal if you're a line holder. You get paid for the trip and you can pickup something else.

Same guys who thought of the rest of the stuff in section 23.

Not the way I'm reading the contract. What I see is they up to 12 hours prior to my original report time to notify me. That's 1825 ET tomorrow.

So my trip starts on the 3rd, & there are three 4 days & two 3 days in open time for the 3rd. If I'm reading the contract correctly they can just toss one of those trips on my schedule tomorrow.

Is that correct?

Plus I only get paid for my original rotation, yes?

Talked to a classmate of mine who is leaving MSP DC9 for MSP M88. No training date for December and possibly January.

Gotta love free vacations.

Yes I love free vacations too, but when will DL go to monthly bid awards. It will even out the training pipeline and avoid benching. We did that at NW and it worked great. No big mother of all bids, just a consistent even training pipeline

Actually, I haven't done it in so long I can't recall. Maybe one of the other guys can chime in. I used to do it, get paid for it, and put in a slip. Haven't held a line for quite awhile out here so I may be spitting out bad poop.
