Capital expenditures do not affect profit and loss.

Did you guys hear about the JB FO that lost his FFDO weapon?

iaflyer;

"CEO Richard Anderson said in a message to employees that Delta pilots will fly the new planes, not feeder carriers. Delta has shifted flying away from feeder carriers, and has gotten rid of more than 70 of its 50-seat regional jets and 25 Saab 340 turboprops. A jet order will give Delta the size of planes it needs "to be able to replace retiring airplanes and have modest growth when the economy and fuel prices support it," Anderson said"

Does not matter one bit what he "says." It might be true - it might be false, he may actually mean it 100%, but the environment may change causing him to change what the company actually "does."

When DAL Pilots have their butts in metal on property I will believe it.

If we negotiate based on rumors/promises/talk/or even firm aircraft orders we are fools who get what we deserve. As someone had posted earlier the company can order 300 aircraft and then sell the orders to other airlines.

Nothing wrong with working with management cooperatively on aircraft orders but lets keep our negotiations as a separate issue.

Just saw it like 3 minutes ago.

Did it go down to PBI with the passenger?

Hey Scoop,

While at Fedex, we negotiated premium rates based on the A380 buy. Shortly thereafter, mgt cancelled the A380 order, and substituded B777 orders which are only paid at prevailing widebody rates.

Once the camel's nose was under the tent, the B727 was beginned to be replaced at B727 rates.....

MGT: 2
ALPA: 0

Just sayin'

[QUOTE=acl65pilot;929938]Not once has ALPA or DALPA gone against a pilot vote and signed something that the pilots voted NO for.:eek::eek:

I'm sure that semantically this is a correct statement. However, to be fair, why don't we have all of the pilots that were for the age 65 deal check in.

I agree with the first part of this statement... as for the second part... it's not the association's business to run the company.

If the management of your company doesn't tell you that they're going to order new airplanes, don't believe them. They're just mismanaging the place, or trying to manage your contract expectations, as the order will be placed afterwards....

Got it.;)

I posted before...we've got 34 DC-9's that are really old. In 2016 we'll have over 60 757's that are 25-30 years old. There'll be a bunch of MD-88's that can't fly NextGen and the early A320's that are over 25 years old. There'll be a bunch of 767's and ER's that are over 25 years old. The FAA just put out an AD on older 757's for fuselage stress. My bet is there'll be more rather than less of those technical issues as the airplanes get older.

In spite of what Scambo says, maybe we ought to encourage management to do a prudent fleet renewal. Maybe that's what they're telling you they're doing.

Wait, it's all about expectation management and the contract. Sorry, I forgot!:o

Just like promises of reform from the ASSociation... talk is cheap. Like my friend at FedEx says.. until it is on the ramp painted purple.. I don't believe it.

The 757 was designed as a 727 replacement, but they ended up with an amazing machine that has no equal. It will be interesting to see how this void is filled, if it ever is.

Really? I dunno... JFK-ZRH PIT-CDG among many others seem to stretch the legs pretty well... and not to mention JFK-LAX.. SEA.. I'm not really sure how this "barely scratches the surface" but I would be interested to hear your ideas... drop tanks???
