It was nice winning the Halas Trophy to now be able to pursue the Lomabardi Trophy. Looks, at this point, like Packers-Steelers, which will be another chapter of good old heartland hard-nosed football.

The beers are on me when our paths cross.

Oooppss...check that, Jets just scored to close it to 24-10. Still a game. Pack beat the Jets earlier this year in NY. Lost a great game to Pittsburgh last year in Pittsburgh. Should be fun.

PS Just checked Super Bowl tickets on StubHub. They start at $3800 per. Don't think my current FO pay can meet that.

No way, Buzz. Beers are on me. I thought the game was over when they put their #2 guy (Collins??) out there, because he was playing so badly. So, the entire second half drama was like free football for me. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm rooting for the Packers. (I think my hometown is going to take my "card" away.)

Looks like we are going for round two of, "this game is over,,,,,,Oh. Wait!" This one is a great game, too.

Good luck against whoever wins this one. :D

Come on Buzz, a rich author can afford tickets. Richard Castle lives in a great condo, in Newwwww Yorkkkkk City no less:D

No problem, Ferd. It should be a great Super Bowl. I'm going to be looking for Buzz in the crowd. My guess is that he will be somewhere close to the, ahhh, action.....

Look at the amount of flying the 320 and 330 do out of ATL. Go take the time to look at the bid packages, and see how many rotations DH to and from ATL. Take the DH's out and you have ATL rotations.

Well, on the 320 there are only 9 pairings in Feb that have a DH into ATL, and at least twice as many that dh out of ATL. Does that mean the base is going to be pretty small?

No... it just means it's an unreliable method.

I am not an expert, but am pretty sure a large number of the LGA slots are dedicated to certain cities, like a hold over from old mail contracts and (I forget what you call it) the gov't subsidized small city air service.

Some of the slots that USairways are trying to trade are "commuter" slots which are designated for commuter (used to be airplanes certified in the Commuter category, but are now, RJs) planes, but there are no restrictions on where they can go (other than existing distance requirements from LGA)

Someone was mentioning Essential Air Service (EAS) - completely separate. EAS routes are subsidized routes to very small towns (places used to be like Watertown, NY, Saranac, NY, etc) but none of the routes link to LGA. Watertown's link to the outside world is via Cape Air's Cessna-402 service to Albany, NY. Not a big market... None connect to LGA. In fact, a number of the EAS routes connect to DTW.

If DAL/LLC are talking with the DOT/DOJ, as advertised in the media, I would think that they may be close to coming to some sort of compromise.

The "compromise" is probably how much charity we will be forced to gift SWA and maybe JB (but mostly SWA). They are "most favored nation" in this deal IMHO.

That crap may have flew 6 months ago, but now with the Airtran merger that argument is mute. Perhaps the new UAL/CAL should have held out as well as opposed to offering up EWR slots. Now they have to compete with the sum of both a AAI/SWA combined presence in EWR.

It still is funny to me that a deal to swap landing slots came under more scrutiny than two major legacy carriers merging as a direct result of the merger being more willing to appease the SWA gods.

Glad we pushed back on this, hopefully it gets resolved within reason.
