I have a question about the AE. I have looked through most of the information I was given, but still hazy. I am an MSP 88 B. I am about 50 from the bottom and in a freeze until Jan of 2012. So, after seeing the bid which included 20 surpluses in my catagory. With that said, what is the best way for me to bid. If I bid a VD, that means I take an MD from someone jr to me, Right? If I MD what does that mean. I figure it wont really matter, but just want to make sure how to bid. Thanks.

Hey Guys,
Trying to remember if the pay rates from the APLA chart include international pay. IE: If the 12yr B747 of $148.25 includes international pay or not. If not whats the going rate in the right seat? I am trying to figure how much more I have to fly on whale to break even with the left seat on the DC9. Thanks in advance. |
No they do not.

Hi Amish Pilot,
I'm kinda' in the same boat. Probably same as you, I know guys who've been DC-9/A for years, and went to the 774/B for: >QOL >more money >less work/different lay-overs I'm inclining more & more to make the same jump. Perhaps this year. The big variable is the time frame of closing the MEM -9 base, as is rumored lately. Interesting times!!! I view this as one of those 'choice between two good things' that life occasionally hands you. Good luck in your choices... |

That crap may have flew 6 months ago, but now with the Airtran merger that argument is mute. Perhaps the new UAL/CAL should have held out as well as opposed to offering up EWR slots. Now they have to compete with the sum of both a AAI/SWA combined presence in EWR.
It still is funny to me that a deal to swap landing slots came under more scrutiny than two major legacy carriers merging as a direct result of the merger being more willing to appease the SWA gods. Glad we pushed back on this, hopefully it gets resolved within reason. |

OMG I know, a friend of mine over there actually thinks AT pilots should, and by decree will, be both stapled and all be made to do a year of probation so the ones that aren't "RSWA" can be cleansed from the system. I kid you not.

A bit off topic but don't dial a phone number with an 809 area code. Just got this message from my daughter that included the following:
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE 809 This one is being distributed all over the US ... This is pretty scary, especially given the way they try to get you to call. Be sure you read this and pass it on. They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has been arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc.. In each case, you are told to call the 809 number right away. Since there are so many new area codes these days, people unknowingly return these calls. If you call from the U.S. or Canada , you will apparently be charged a minimum of $2425 per-minute. And you'll also get a long recorded message. The point is, they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges. WHY IT WORKS: The 809 area code is located in the Dominican Republic . The charges afterward can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong. Please forward this entire message to your friends, family and colleagues to help them become aware of this scam. Does sched ever call you with changes or are you suppose to constantly check your sched on the computer?
IOW, we have a LOT of act to get together before a BOS pilot base of any kind is even a consideration. Don't hold your breath, as it appears we have ceeded that territory permantly and are too afraid to do what it takes to get it back. The shuttle may or may not be a "money maker" (to a large degree that is) but the shuttle as a whole is 2/3 RJ's anyway. The BOS-LGA shuttle isn't nearly enough to justify a BOS base. We won't have one until we get down and dirty and take that city back, and it doesn't look like we are willing and/or able to do that now. Kiss BOS goodbye. |
