AS has hired as recently as late 07 maybe early 08 (not sure if that qualifies as "years" ;))...most of those recent hires are now on furlough though :(

Buy Alaska or have Delta Alaska Connection Airlines? Hmm.

You know having a robust RJ fleet and Alaska/SEA revenue sharing with AS is good for Delta and its pilots.

I think thats what we're about to be told by the people we pay not to say that.

Why would we "need" to buy Alaska? We have a conntract for their feed for, I heard ten years. When we talk about such things, we should all stop thinking like pilots and more like an executive or business owner. It's about capital preservation these days. Let's keep a nice war chest to get us through this storm. I'm all about scope, which we relaxed in Section 1 in the joint contract for Alaska, but since we've already agreed to this contract, why not use Alalska's equipment and personnel to build our international base in LAX? When their contract runs out, we can either purchase them or gradually replace them with our own personnel and equipment.

I want us to be Strong, Strong, Strong as we emerge from this economic downturn. I believe this is happening right now. Unless another 9/11 event hits us, we are going to be well positioned over the next few years. Perhaps we will all finally see the benefits of our sacrifices very soon..

He bought revenue tickets from ATL because the flight was already 75% full. It's still 6 months away. As many have said, hopefully this is not just a bounce across the bottom but rather a rebound.

I had 2 flights this week with over 400 empty seats on each flight  Oh wait, they were ferry flights to VCV for paint...... :) I have to say the guys out there are doing a good job on the aircraft. The paint job is a much higher quality than what was done to the FNWA aircraft.

I know I keep hearing this as well. But just last week I spoke with some of the higher ups in management and the -400 and -200 programs. What I posted is what came straight from them. It seems that the timeframes we have been hearing are not necessarily cast in stone. Another rumor that has been flying around is that if you are displaced you can't bid the -200 because they are going to be gone. At least for right now the -200 can still be bid, and they have no timeline to pull the aircraft from our APA staffing.

ACL,

I am avowed, "Card- Carrying RJ Hater" and was very pleased by your earlier post about management wanting less RJ's, etc.

Could you elaborate a bit on what you know, and also give us your best estimate of how it will shake out, and how long it will take.

Thanks,

See where Singapore Air is putting up 777-200ER's and maybe some 777-300's for sale, what is possibility we can pick up some of the 300's?

Yeah...here's the thing. If Singapore with one of the lowest cost structures and classiest service across the pacific is parking 777, that doesn't bode well for picking up some of the 300s. Seems the market is falling fast:mad:
