Oil has dropped to $105/barrel; DAL stock is up 3%.

May 4, 2010 - Delta announces intention to hire pilots after the summer.

May 4, 2011 - DALPA emails out LOA 28 for early outs.

Maybe next year

In all seriousness though, I hope that a lot of old guys jump on this great opportunity to bail.

I'm thinking about trying to bid for a rolling thunder-friendly schedule for June. Do we really get cranking in June or is it more like July? I'd rather not end up with 18 of the last 19 days on reserve if we're not gonna be short in June. Category is ATL73NB. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Another greedy pilot
I had no idea you left the 320!! Thanks for the bump in category, & congrats on no more commuting!!

This has nothing to do with being fat staffed. It was a program that they were going to offer to everyone but us, and DALPA felt we should be included so we are. Frankly, they probably prefer that no one takes it.

Thanks! I'm having serious Bus withdrawal though. They got this big control wheel thingy in your lap all the time, and I keep forgetting to hit LNAV to go direct.

In time I guess. I hope they bring something French to ATL sooner than later

So far driving to work is everything I dreamed it could be. I keep pulling for the STL minihub for you.

Its kinda hard to figure why they would offer this to pilots if we're not over staffed.
This program is liable to get expensive real quick.
I think quite a few will take the money and run. Especially NWA guys who still have their DB. They're going to be working for nothing if they pass this up.

Maybe they are testing the waters to see if this could be the way to manage the retirements of the future. Im sure they don't like the unknown number of retirements that can happen at any day. Maybe they will have a standing deal like this for retiring pilots. Have a set severance and in return allow the company to have a retirement window of their choosing.

Initially I set the over/under at 10... I wish to revise it to 5.
