AE results were never posted same day? I might be thinking of something else.

Don't know if this is the case at United, Continental or American, but it sure wasn't the case at Northwest.

Sad to think about how many more Delta pilot jobs this would create.

Carl, I've never flown with a DGS instructor who wasn't a retired DAL CA in the same type. They're actually very good.

Ha ha, well no, but people were picking numbers out of the sky and I thought why so low?

Never thought about it... they'd need to make sure the planes never land at any base or airport we serve and even then it may not be enough.

It would be OK with me I guess if they had to be able to hold what they instructed on, and there were term limits..
Term limits is a great idea. If you go offline you should have a choice, if you stay out more than 5 years you lose your seniority number and no more than 50% of your time to date can be offline, or you return to flying after 5 years.

Offline would be training, management, chief pilots office, alpa or even the time between posts on apcf.

That article didn't say anything about the jets going to regional carriers. Rather, the author (and Embraer) repeatedly refer to them as "regional" jets, to be purchased by Delta.

Isn't the E-190 / E-195 the aircraft being considered by Delta right now as a result of the RFP?

I just didn't read anything in that article that would indicate those aircraft were intended for other than mainline flying.

Truth is, I'm interested in flying India again. That should demographically make me the only 1 out of 12500 pilots.

Speaking of India, I had read that DAL was modifying the depressurization routes to cruise at a higher altitude than 10K'. Has that happened? That should really simplify flying to India. I flew thru Afghanistan and Iran in the daytime 2 things struck me: 1. there were no houses, boats or jetskis on the lakes and 2. Those are some BIIIGGG frikkin mountains.
In order for DAL to get a reasonable ROI on training costs for an ATL330 base, they have to start by reducing deadheads to/from and layovers in ATL. If you look at the routes that are flown/have been flown by the 330 out of ATL, here is what you get for originating flights.

ATL-HNL
ATL-ACC
ATL LOS
ATL CDG
ATL FRA
ATL BCN
ATL DUB
ATL AMS
ATL LHR/LGW

Of those routes only four seem to be more than a 2-3 month seasonal thing - HNL, ACC, LOS and AMS. LOS may in fact be year round on the 330 if the bunks are installed before winter.

I would look at those 4 routes being the staple of ATL 330 flying until the base is expanded, otherwise DAL has ****ed away a lot of money for training for little return. There is the possibility that ATL-DKR-LAD returns to the 330 as well as ATL to deep SA. I just don't see it happening yet with the initial base size being so small.

My $.02 and I'm probably wrong in assuming that DAL did this to save money in the long term.

The quality of training was always my top priority. You can't put a price on the best training. There is no possibility of a non-Delta pilot giving the same quality of instruction. Not even when they get to ride the jumpseat once a year to observe and hope to stay relevant.

And I never saw fiefdoms at NWA.

And since we don't technically have any standard operating procedure why don't they call them technique pilots?
LOL!

I just flew with a senior LCA that felt like he needed to inform me that he would gladly give up scope to get a 25% pay raise for his last 6 years.

And I gladly told him that he was in an extreme minority.
