Embraer wins more orders for regional jet

Bucking, Delta put out a RFP on new jets back in Jan. The RFP was actually for 100 to 200 jets. They are expected to make a decision in the fall. The RFP was in the news quite a bit when it came out. Every aircraft manufacturer appears to be active in the bidding. They do not however appear to be looking at a 100 seat jet. The low end on size will be in the 130 seat range. First deliveries were requested in the RFP for 2013.

Nice work, however does this reflect the most junior pilot or the most junior pilot with the greatest years of service? In that the SLI did not go date of hire, your results may be skewed somewhat. Perhaps a chart showing the most junior in category and years of service for fDAL and fNWa guys would show a better picture of what someone might hold.;)

Is the 88 in ATL really that junior? Really I find that hard to believe!

Of course you are correct. This article is probably mistaken. But it also might be a slip. The suggestion of a split buy makes sense. Especially if the Airbus NEO can be trained and operated in concert with the existing fleet's list.

Embraer is hoping to sell up to 100 regional jets to Delta as replacements for the airline's aging fleet. More important, industry analysts said, Embraer hopes an initial contract for the regional aircraft will improve its chance of winning other contracts with Delta and other North American airlines.
Delta is understood to be planning to purchase up to 400 jets but hasn't announced potential suppliers. Embraer officials indicated that although they remained optimistic Delta was holding talks with "everyone" -- an international range of suppliers.

Bar, you forgot, despite the drama and baggage issues both Lindsay and the 88 had enhancements!

Could I as why everone is so down on the MD-88/90. I flew the thing at USAir and enjoyed it. I'm on the Airbus now. It's nice but has the personality of a toaster.

Guess I'm old fashioned! Bring on the Convairs!:D

It was where Delta new hires were going and Delta backfilled rather than displaced on the bid that saw so much 767 flying leave the base two years ago.

It has not been particularly easy to get into Atlanta, even if seniority would hold it. Atlanta had fewer slots to AE into until this most recent bid.

Here's a fun question.....

Do all the lump sum early retirement dollars get deducted from our profit sharing at the end of the year?

Secondly, do the early outs get a profit sharing check for the months they are working in 2011 or are they excluded because they didn't work the whole year?

Sailing, Bar, slow, whatever handle K.P. uses on here?

When I went through the process, we were told that if you were not hired based upon the HR panel interview, you can not interview again for Delta as a pilot.

And on that note; just how do you blow it with the HR panel?

Does doing any Interview Prep (for Delta interviews) help or hinder?

Marty!!

I believe partial payments earned during the year are awarded profit sharing on a pro rata basis. The amount of your profit sharing is based on your earnings during that year without regard for whether you were employed the entire period.

I do not believe payments from earlier years paid in the current year are considered. Only those earned during the profit sharing period.

(I'm no expert and could be wrong)

So that number is skewed until the AE is done with?
