Bucking, I've been mostly agreeing with you lately. But no way this MEC will permit the 100 seater to go to the regionals. That would make ME send in a DPA card.

Who knows what the intentions are but:
The policy manual states the negotiation committee generally will have an election every two years. Not that it has too. From the reports I am getting the Negotiation Committee has really started working as one, are listening to the reps and what they want, and appear to be the group we want going forward. There is a special MEC meeting next Tuesday to discuss this issue exclusively. As I understand it, the meeting was called by the Reps, not the Admin. Reality is that, this is a good team, we do not need to insert anyone in to it. Many of the reps do not want to call the election. I would suggest calling, your reps and seeing where they stand. From what I do gather, many can assume where a specific rep stands based on their past positions. Also I understand that this will be a recorded vote so everyone will know where each rep stands on this. On the scope sale rumor. Nothing specific or non specific out of the MEC. That said this 25% pay raise rumor seems to be out there a lot. May be a leak from somewhere to see where our collective heads are, and if the support is there the 190 may be in play too. Also hearing that RJET is trying to sell F9 to Pinnacle. We then would get the 320's in exchange for 190 type flying. This rumor is just that, but it seems to be coming from any directions. Suffice to say, the Reps need to support their pilots' wishes not those of anyone else.

Sarcasm follows I'm hearing RUMORS that the small jet defense coalition wants to "unify" their small jet buds by providing them seniority numbers on the Delta list without protecting the flying their buds currently do. They want this because the small jet numbers are shrinking and their buds are scared that the small jet business model is failing. The rapid consolidation in that segment of the industry has them believing that the outsourced gravy train is over. They're calling for a change in negotiating committee and facilitating a 400 seat scope sale. Have not received verification yet. [/sarcasm] You're better than this tripe, Bar. Whether or not there is any truth to it or not, absent a firm affirmation from the Union that Section 1 is not for sale, silence breeds consent. |

I guess I needed a smiley face there. It's a joke. Seal Team 6 would not get involved in union business and the MEC does not kill people. I hope that clears it up.

My guess is that the current committee called Seal Team 6 to rescue them from the bunker, now the MEC needs to bring them in, dead or alive.

My goodness, I didnt take it literally. I figured it was more code then anything. And while it may have never been their intent, our union has most certainly destroyed people's lives. If they fail to bring a TA to the table the protects our jobs, that trend will continue.

If they bring a TA like that to the MEC they had better shoot it down, and recall the team on the spot. If it passed the MEC and went to a pilot vote, DPA would not just have enough cards to hold a vote, but they would have enough "yes" votes to win within the hour.

:rolleyes:Screw the DPA. If a scope sale is proposed by our association I am applying for a permit to picket our own MEC Office and sending out invitations to the press.
Glad my children can walk, because they will. |

I agree with you PG, and for anyone to claim that the union was to blame for where we are is just plain wrong...except one area: Scope. The "best and brightest" lawyers at ALPA were in on the writing of Scope language that they now say had huge flaws in it, and they now refuse to even attempt to defend.
If I had told you that I wanted to be our legal wording watchdog for the Scope language back then, you would have correctly stated that I didn't have the training or expertise. You would have correctly stated that you didn't want me in charge of looking out for your interests regarding scope. Yet the results couldn't be worse if I HAD done it...and I would have charged as much as our best and brightest lawyers did. Scope is laid direrctly at the feet of ALPA. Everything else in your post I agree with. Carl |
