Seesh don't you now anything about aviation?
Easy. Let's assume management wants to give us as little as possible. Let's further assume that they will go to borderline ruthless lengths to do so. We all know how even "true" statistics can skew the reality (like 5/4/4/4 is a "raise" when clearly it is barely a wheel spinning 4 year break even extension) it's not that big a stretch to see how management can "give" just enough top secret information to win someone's favor over lobster and brandy and then count on that guy to go to the rank and file with "trust me you want to sign this but I can't tell you why" and presto we end up with less than the best deal.

Only if no one else adds capacity. Industry wide capacity discipline happens about zero percent of the time in this industry. Look at SWA and JB after 9-11 as well as going forward as well as the VA order book, Emirate's US ambitions, etc. Where TF is all the revenue for all THAT capacity going to come from?

I'm not that paranoid. I would HOPE.. that our folks that do the analysis are able to get enough information to cross reference facts and figures and more importantly, fill in the holes as data are compiled. If management is not forthcoming at that point, I would smell a rat and push for more.. if that is not coming then, well it gets ugly. I think our management at this point is exhibiting smarter traits than the geniuses over at SWA because they ARE engaging the pilot group.
I'm glad you're optimistic on that angle though. I like your judgement over all and I admit maybe I'm too suspicious at times but it's better to be over cautions than over trusting. That goes for management as well as our own with secrets to keep from us for whatever reason.

BUT...there's a song for that:

You KNOW Delta -has to- buy Alaska, they've run out of places to pull out of!
