ACL- We all want restoration of our contract. The loan and sacrafice that we have given this company in their time of need has to be reconciled with. A pay raise on top of that would be nice. As a minimum, we have the nothing less than SWA crowd arguing with the DALPA acolytes, as they try to manage expectations down, over trip pay and w2's.
C12K is a an emotional and angst ridden topic. We have a contract comparison that is skewed towards airlines and data that doesn't reflect all of our competitors. It is missing data on KLM/AF, and that information will not materialize, if it does, until after the survey closes.
Basically, there is already an organized effort to manage expectations down.

Perhaps some math and basic human behavior can answer the ? and might be a key to better aligning our goals and needs.
DALPA reps make 92 hours a mo. on the highest equipment they can hold in any base. Add to that a $1,000.00/mo. stipend.
Assuming there are reps that are on the 75/76A that can hold 777A on paper, here is the difference.
767a @ 182hr @ 70 hrs (for oct) grosses $12,740
777a @ 217hr @ 92 hrs (always) grosses $20,872 with the stipend. Disclaimer: these are basic gross figures and don't include any other income i.e. green slips.

Now, back to ACL's point. What if the disenfranchised pilots that are frustrated with the current tone and management of expectations became engaged and changed the compensation for DALPA volunteers to what they currently hold at the average line value for that category. Throw in the stipend and per diem and thats it.
I imagine that very quickly we all would be fighting for restoration.

I am short on the details of whether this would be a resolution change, policy manual change, or involve recalls, but if the pilots want it and support it, it could be organized and happen. A showing of grass roots unity to achieve true unity. We all need to be pulling the same oars in the same boat.

And if DALPA really considered SWA's contract unacceptably low, wouldn't DALPA exaggerate SWA's contract upward so as to make ours look worse? Instead DALPA exaggerated SWA's contract downward so as to make ours look better by comparison...thus needing less of an increase.
Then there's the whole issue of DALPA waiting until our survey closes before releasing data on AF/KLM and our other international competitors...but I hate to pile on.
At least DPA knows the truth about SWA because we've actually contacted SWAPA...unlike DALPA that has not contacted SWAPA. Much better to just make stuff up about the SWAPA contract. And nobody has said the SWAPA contract constitutes the "upside acceptable range" of our contract. But then again, accuracy has never been your strong suit.

I read unical offered their pilots DAL + 1. If the SWA contract is not much better than ours, why don't we just ask for an exact copy of it.? Scope and all. Then adjust the rates up off the 737.
This should be easy, given what I have seen on the comparisons.

But regular grits over hash browns? No way. Maybe at some mom and pop diner but not at the Awful Waffle.
I like mine just chunked, but I can go for smothered covered chunked.
I mean do you realize your order envy as you sit there at the bar area in front of the gril and watch them make hash browns and cook them just a little too long so they're extra crunchy?

And he's going to be sweet to the waitress desperately trying to get a $2 tip from him. And he will give her the $2 tip. And tell that cook, "damn good job."
And then he is going to walk out of that waffle house and walk across the street and go to the other waffle house. He's going to already have change in his pocket for the USA Today and he will get one before he walks in. He will pony up to the bar and order the All Star Special, with... hash browns. They're that damn good. And eggs scrambled. He may splurge and go with the biscuit over toast though. So good that after reading the front page of the USA Today, the editorial page, some of the red section and indulging in the guilty pleasure that is the purple section, he will get up, tip $2, pay the bill, ask for change and walk over to the jukebox and select any one of these hits....
... and walk out.
But one thing this southern man will never ever do is order anything but the waffle or omelet special. Whether it is 6am, 10am, 1pm, 5pm, 3am. It will always be breakfast at the Awful Waffle.

BTW, yes there are 3 Waffle Houses on Virginia Avenue. One on the hotel side of 85, one at Spondivits and the other further down by Willy's and the Greek Gyro place.

More importantly, it would be easily defensible in front of the NMB at the end of the process to simply say: "SWA plus 5%...scope and all."
