Then there's the 747 problem.
Old gas guzzlers hauling light loads is never good for long term viability. With the Tsunami and loads in/out of Tokyo off, I'm surprised they haven't started parking them already. They did not replace the early outs off of it, and there were some displacements off it in the last bid though...so...you do the math on that one.

Not for long, parking the DC9's, the older 757's will be replaced by more 737-900's, I'll bet the older 767's will be next...replaced by...? Then there's the 747 problem.

They are not replacing or parking any of the 744s as of now. Actually, they were supposed to get rid of two of them, and now they won't. The reason they have not replaced the 30 retiring Captains on the 744 is because they are scheduled to have 3 744s out for lie flat seat mods until almost the beginning of Summer, so they didn't want to train everyone now and then have them sit for 6 months.
This applies to upgrading our snacks (Why can JetBlue give out Blue Chips, while we're stuck with boring pretzels and peanuts?) to upgrading our gate agents to upgrading our ground crews to upgrading ourselves. Every single one of us who come face-to-face with customers need to put on our smiles and make our customers feel like they're the most important people in the world.
That's how we win.
Bad, bad mojo wishing ill thoughts towards AMR and it's pilots hoping for a DFW base or to pick up the pieces.

Does anyone know if you get displaced for OE via 23.G.5, and you don't get assigned recovery flying prior to 12 hours before your original report, if you can then start white slipping trips for pay in addition to your pay and credit received for the displacement?
Example: Displaced from a four day and get 22:00ish pay and credit. Don't get recovery flying. Could I then (in theory) WS another four day the same days and basically get paid another 22:00 making it effectively double time on those days?
Thanks.
