Cool

Well, If I get "streeted" and took a job at Starbuck's at least the free coffee would be worth a couple thousand a year I wouldn't need to spend!?... Wait!?... The 25% discount for employees at the .99 cent store doesn't look too bad either - Free coffee or .75cent frozen hot dogs? Damn I can't decide!?...

Try Republic, Skywest(maybe). Besides, with most major's in financial trouble, regionals with deep pockets are actually paying to play. Ask Airwisconsin, Republic...the list goes on.

How screw up is that, eh?

I think for some of us who has been commuting for the past decade, getting "F"d may not be as bad as it sounds. I'd rather take a paycut, get unemployment for 6 months, sleep in my own bed for a change. Besides, I know i'll have the next 30+ years wearing the same uniform. Now's the time to see if I can crack it in the "real" world, i.e. get a job! I know some of my friends who know nothing but flying an ILS approach to minimums, and would not even fathom working anywhere else. Maybe those will not hesitate to take a job as an FO at CPZ. I know i will have a tough time deciding.

I hear ya. I think it would be stay at home with the kiddo's, let the sugar Momma keep plugging away and pick up a corporate trip or so/month with my old gig to stay current. Not sure I'd commute for the F/O deal at CPZ? But, everyone's got a different situation and I empathize with those who would find themselves in a world of hurt if they got put out in the "real" world and I'm happy for those that have a "back-up." As a "Plan for the worst, hope for the best" sort of person, let's just hope the economy turns around sooner rather than later and the widget proceeds to take over the aviation world as we had planned from the start!?...

If they could hold off on recalls until they could bring them all back quickly, that would mitigate the training costs on the way back.

- how many would sit right seat there? very few, only the guys/gals who had absolutely nothing else to do or needed the jumpseating rights/medical, which is important, but what I envision is about 170 formal DAL captains and mostly a bunch of ****ed off displaced Compass captains sitting right seat. What a great time that would be.

Of course there's a great rumor flying around now about the company "selling" Compass in some whacked out scheme to eradicate the flowback agreement.

Any July/August AE rumors floating around out there? Most curious about where # of positions will increase and decrease.
That would make sense at first glance, but the fact is that they need to cost out guys coming back in through the bottom of CPS as they start to recall. Plus, I see it very unlikely that you will see 1000 furloughs.
Give away more scope and 76 seat flying, maybe.
In that case you may see a J4J deal with the sale of compass. I sure hope not, but you never know.
Best case would be Compass here, restrictions on the remaining 76 seat flying and a nice order of larger E jets. It makes sense for the company, and would be great furlough mitigation.

ACL or anyone,
If DAL furloughs wouldn't the contract require all 76 seaters to be reduced to 70 seats?

Also, I seem to remember that if you have completed probation at Delta then you will not be on probation at Compass
Thanks Dash! I would assume that if flowing down to Compass, you are responsible for their 1-year training contract also..... Does anyone know if that would be true? Does that start from DOE?

No.

The post 01 hires only remove the six seat in the aircraft that were part of the 76 seat scope settlement. Furlough an 01 hire and this is where you see the 6 seats being removed from the aircraft that the limit going down to 55 jets.
In effect 900 people are not covered under the tighter restrictions. At SOC that number is reduced to the most junior of pilots. I believe that number is 476 pilots that do not have a 2001 hire slotted below them.
So after SOC it they could furlough 476 pilot and only have to block first then take out 153 seats.
Reference Contract Awareness 09-01 (CA 09-01) PDF file is in the DALPA library. I have pasted the sections on here so many times that you can just go look it up. The union did a good job explaining the settlement.

A good reason to have the DAL MEC continue representing CPS pilots, no?
