As for Opus's comments. I do not know where that came from. As with everything there is and are possibilities of deal falling through at the last minute (717 program). Part of the reason I have mentioned nothing.

No reason to get people excited for no reason.
FWIW, none of my info has changed. There are a ton of things in the works.

AE out early Aug FWIW. (Well a surplus bid)

Some DC9s going to LAX to reinstate some of the flying that ExpressJet was doing last year for DAL out of LAX.

New plan for the DC9 includes more than was expected. The -40s will be flown until they come up on heavy mx and then parked but the -30s will include more than was proposed. As the -30s reach heavy mx they will be swapped out 1:1 with those in storage (35ish total). All -50s are getting painted and they are "looking into" converting the cockpits over to match the -88 cockpit so as to enable everyone to fly them. They like the -50 for the roll that it fills and doing that would enable them to be flown until DAL decides on the replacement.

10ish DC9s going to ATL to replace some of the 76 seat feed and the 76ers will thus fill for some of the 50 seaters that are going bye bye.
Does this mean a net increase in the DC9 from the current count, or the ones we have just stay around longer? LAX/ATL base or just DH out as part of existing bases?

Heard similar thing about additional airbus.

not 100% sure but the number i heard was around 87 DC9s total flying if this comes to fruition. As far as bases, i have no idea.

Heyas,

You guys suck. Have we been so beaten down that any sliver of good news is met with anger and derision to the messager?

Opus was probably ****ed that people ****ed all over him for bringing what might be a shred of good news or even "hey, nothing bad is happening to us this week" news.

Bah...everyone just get off my lawn...

As a life-long Packer (and once Brett Favre fan) I'm hoping that scumbag (Brett) never plays anywhere ever again. What an egotistical scumbag demanding his own locker room. Imagine a senior CA demanding his own lounge for preflight. If the Vikes take him on, and I hope they do, I can't wait until he throws the pick that ends their playoff hopes. Then, the Viking fans will know what we Packer fans have known for years. He's a team-killer. Problem is, its your team.

Hey, I'm all for buying VA if we get their FAs! We need some infusion. Now that's marketing!

That's exactly what he did. If he had held onto the information people would have said how come you didn't give us a hint. Sometimes you can't win for losing. Come back opus.

As for DC-9s coming to LA, sheesh, have you guys seen the new combined DAL/NWA ops out of terminals 5 & 6? What a cluster. Its great to see the 777 and 747 big boys parked at the gates. But then there's the gate agents who are *****ing about the fact that the two systems aren't integrated yet and the lines of pax are out the doors. It looks like the US Air terminal in DC (i.e., Greyhound). Plus, if you're a DAL/NWA jet trying to push from the backside of 6, DAL ramp can't hear you.

This JV with Virgin Blue might be a little bit to worry about. The Virgin Blue group owns Virgin Austrailia. Is the JV also a deal with Virgin Austrailia? If so, we might just see our LAX-SYD flights flown by Virgin Austrailia's 777-300 ER's.

DC-9's based in LA?!?!?!? I might have to raise the B.S. flag on that rumor. There hasn't been a 9 west of the Rockies since DC-3's had dirt floors. I'm pretty sure that the last 9 that I flew to Calif. had a duck painted on the tail.
