UHC is a good healthcare provider, but our options are so dang limited under the plans we have and there's so much out of pocket... it's ridiculous. I was excited when I got hired and saw UHC... but it's been a big disappointment.

Even worse that I know you're on the inside at ALPA...
I agree with 80. It is a good provider when it comes to dealing with them but a buddy of mine was reading the forums and sent me a text about his experience.

Deductible for his wife to have a baby - $4500
It was a C-section so personal drop 6 days of reserve at 3.88 per day at $96.28 per hour $2,246.

Total? $6,746.

This is what it costs a pilot. My point is this, if you have a kid you should get to use your sick days and not have to PD. You're already going to get a bill, if you're on the HSA and the baby comes early you may get hit with a $4500 bill in January. Sure by the end of the year it all works out but $4500 is a hard check for many to write.

Reminds me why I don't come here as often anymore.
If you haven't noticed, there is about the same number of hardcore ALPA types as there are hardcore DPA types with most of us falling somewhere in between.

Nevermind. It's too late to get into complicated matters about health care plans.

Hey Ferd,

For the record, ol Clint said Chrysler should not have been bailed out, to wit:

But apparently that opinion changed when Chrysler handed the actor a check ....

Totally agree and backed up by what he was saying during maneuvers. His mouth definitely never stopped moving, haha. He pretty much did his debrief before they crossed the hold short!

I'm amazed the CH-53 can do a loop..dang!

I assumed they lost money on the FA's and other employee groups, but held out hope that pilots, with our incentives to remain healthy, might be a better group to insure.

Any insight on how the pilots fare as an underwriting pool?

Thought he was going to consume all the oxygen on the Flight Deck. Thought maybe someone would chime in with some ...
