WHOA!
So what's the point of that plan now? $4500 + 10% thereafter? The goal was, as Slow mentioned, hit $4500 (mostly out of pocket unless incurred at the end of the year) and be done. $375/mo and $300 after tax deduction? Now if you're kid goes in for a $23,500 bill as Slow mentioned (or a typical broken arm and surgery from falling from a tree which was $21,000 in the case of my niece) then you owe $4500 + 10% or $1850 and then 10% from that point forward.

For an individual the deductible is $2300. After that it's 90/10 up to a max out of pocket of $2800. So if you're a kid as described above, you'll pay $2800 total, and health care for that individual is free for the remainder of the year. The max out of pocket for a family was raised this year to $6000, but the individual out of pockets and deductibles still apply. Also, don't forget all Rx is included in this plan, so if you need expensive medication for a member of your family it caps your cost.
Again, I'm not defending Delta's overall health plans. They can be substantially improved. My response was to Johnso about the HSA. That plan works for me. It may not for you. But it's clear that a lot of people posting on this topic have no clue how the plan they're complaining about works.

They already have - you need to do much of the "additional material" to get ready for your eSV, while only getting paid for 1/3 of the core material.

DAL Health Plan
Guys,
Its no secret - our Health Plan options blow. The fact that they are so bad is one of the main reasons that I am still in the reserves (Tricare). This however, is not a DAL specific problem - it is a societal problem. In 2000 DAL's plan was awesome - not so much anymore. Some guys have posted SWA's plan as an awesome plan - even this blows compared to what we had 12 years ago.
As technology improves health care options increase, but so does the cost. Lets face it, as a society we are going to have to ration health care in some form. The proposed mechanisms may be different but it will in fact be rationing.
I hope that we, as a pilot group, can improve our health plans - but any such improvement, going against societal trends, will in all likelihood be a marginal improvement. In our current environment any significant improvement would probably be too costly.
As far as getting upset with Slowplay - why? He posts a different point of view then the majority of the posters here - I personally find this valuable. I don't really want to read 50 guys all saying the DAL healthplans suck - even if I think it sucks. I want to hear all opinions, and believe me with 12,000 Pilots (if we indeed still number 12,000) some guys will think its great.

Health plans:
I retired from the reserves this year and had tricare - HSA was not compatible with tricare (neither was UHC, but that was covered in one of Bar's rants) so I did not sign up for it.
I have the gold plan. I'd like to hear about HSA and PPO since either could now work for me. I will be eligible for tricare in 7 years (reduced reserve retirement age due to post 911 active reserve status). So, what I'd like to get a feel for is would the HSA be a waste of my time since I only will use it for a limited time? What does the PPO do for me?
If I had some major medical - non-life-threatening event would the HSA cover my medical tourist cost if I got some procedure done overseas? Would the PPO? Would the Gold?

I don't think 80 meant the USAF had F-18s, I think he meant the F-18s had the USAF.
FTB, ready for his well deserved *** whipping from Ferd and Buzz in 1... 2... 3...
Of course Buzz, before you beat me down, realize that's a MD product taking out a Lockheed one. I'd totally find that unacceptable, if I were you I'd take that out on Ferd.

Saw this while looking through the news this morning and thought of you
"I am certainly not politically affiliated with Mr. Obama," Eastwood told Fox News Channel. "I am not supporting any politician at this time."
"There is no spin in that ad. On this I am certain," Eastwood told The O'Reilly Factor producer Ron Mitchell. "It was meant to be a message about job growth and the spirit of America. I think all politicians will agree with it. ... If Obama or any other politician wants to run with the spirit of that ad, go for it."
Eastwood also said he donated his pay for the ad to charity.
I love it. I was at a Maple Flag once gunning the crap out of a Canadian F-18 and laughing my butt off about how easy it was.......as I was coming off I turned to see that his wingman had been having his way with me the entire time too. Ahhhhhh the good old days, bought a couple of Canadians a couple of beers that night.

At least they were Canadians and not our "friends" in the ME. Didn't the magical F-15 give you better SA than that? I know, its a struggle.
