You can already volunteer to fly on your off day as a reserve pilot via yellow slip.

I have flown reserve on and off for the last 12 years and never even got close to 70 hours in any category I flew in the following bases DFW, LAX, SLC, MCO, unpaid vacation
, ATL ,SLC, LAX, but mostly LAX. The ATL narrow-body guys probably have a different experience.This is why we need to see some solid analysis and get the NC's take on things.

I sat reserve for two years starting in 2007. I broke guarantee once and that was 72 hours. Quite a few on the 88 this past winter did not fly for 2 months on reserve.
